It was great to see the 20 or so racers that showed up today. The weather was threatening all morning. They almost had the track dry enough to race on before the day turned in to night....with how dark the sky got. It's nice having all your stuff indoors when the weather turns bad.....no need to pack all your wet equipment or worry about your bags and such getting soaked. Maybe next week the sun will shine on us. The track is awesome, the facility top notch.....your stuff is protected from the elements...and when and if it ever gets warm...we'll have air conditioned comfort. What more could you ask for? More and more guys are starting to run the electric cars and racing will get better...with more participation. Thanks to Scott,Mike and all the other Leisure Hours guys. See you next week!

Hey Nick..... how have you been? No nitro for me this year. The cost of fuel and tires has priced me right out of nitro. The electric sedan scene seems to be growing steadily here. The electric cars are just as fast as nitro without the tire truing or fuel costs....or the work of cleaning as prepping your car for a race. hope to see more cars showing up here at one of the best tracks in the country. Seems Casino57 is applying some "not-so-common-sense" in starting it. Now I think I'll go start a "Tamiya Mini Racing at Leisure Hours" thread, because that's what I really want to do. I hope to get at least two posts in it

For anyone interested in an all-area on-road schedule, have you seen this thread? I created it because it seems that a few of the local track web sites are not accurate or up-to-date. In the case of LH, they only project out a few weeks. I don't know about you guys, but if I don't pencil in my race dates at the beginning of summer, all my weekends will be scheduled away without my knowledge. Then I'll be like, "Honey, I'm going racing Sunday." And she'll be like, "Oh no you're not!" And then I'll be like, "Yes dear "

So I went to the first race on May 22 and back again June 5th. Both days had great turn-outs for VTA. On opening day, there were a few guys with GT cars that wound up running in 17.5 TC because of the low numbers. I've had my USGT car there with me both days but haven't had the opportunity to run it. Had my Mini on the first day too, but I knew that was a long shot. Just wondering if the GT cars that showed up the first day were USGT or RCGT and if you'll be back? I'd really like to give it a try. But then again, I was already running two classes and don't think three will be possible. The chassis I'm using for 17.5 hasn't been working too well for me. I think I need a break from it. Would really like to see USGT make a showing.

The racing so far has been excellent. I've hit the rumble strips on both sides of the sweeper at the end of the straightaway, full boosted speed with my 17.5 car, flipped on my lid and didn't stop skidding till I hit the boards on the end of the track. Amazingly, the car didn't break a single part. My point is, this is the most forgiving track I've ever raced on. For VTA, it has been extreme realism. We rub doors and occasionally spin each other out, but there is seldom a total loss of control or need for a marshal. The track is wide enough that we just turn around and get right back to racing. Seems so much like the real thing that I'm totally hooked. I hope more on-roaders will make an effort to get out here.

I've had a second (17.5) car sitting here unused this year as well. Maybe I'm missing something somewhere, but where's the logic in running boosted 17.5? I've seen at least a couple of people having big problems with the boost feature, and odds of burning things up are much higher as well. Run a blinky 17.5, I'm in... boosted - eh. We aren't running any boost in VTA and the races are fine (and fun!) Not trying to split the handful of cars that ARE showing up (thanks everyone) into smaller classes.. just seems strange to not run open TC or blinky 17.5 instead of the weird hybrid of the two.

So with the disclaimer of not trying to stir the pot, and trying to keep up with the many splintered LH threads.. why take a slower motor and use software to make it faster (and more likely to go *poof*) instead of just running a faster motor to begin with? Why not blinky 13.5 if 17.5 is too slow? I can see not wanting to run a 4.5 out there and rip up tires and gear every week, but I just don't get the attraction with boost.

Hopefully not... we have enough "this is better because *I* run it" threads and posts, please don't let it turn into anything along those lines. Just doesn't make sense to me.. like when people continually complain that running electrics on the (full size) onroad nitro layout is a bad thing. How is it 'too big' when it's the same size for everyone running in each class? Gear accordingly, and go out and have fun.

And for what it's worth, we do run boosted 13.5 stadium truck over the winter. Still seems dumb, but if it's a case of join the herd or don't run at all, we will.
