Default Dirt Heaven 2009 Summer Race Schedule

This was posted by Jeff earlier in the DH thread:
Hey Guys,
I talked to quite a few guys who want to race outside more often this summer. Here are the dates that we will run gas and electric outside this summer. On all of these Saturdays, The shop opens at 9am and racing starts at noon. Racing this year year will be $10 first class and $5 for additional classes. This will be a 7 race series with 1 drop out. We will give out plaques to the top 3 in each class at the end of summer for this points series. Our goals this year, is geting back to local racing and making it more afffordable to the racers.

Gas and electric outside

May 30th Spring Bling Opener
June 13th
July 11th
July 25th
August 8th
August 22nd Corn Roast
September 19th Final outside race

We also are going to run a couple of 10th Electric only race days outside to get ready for the nationals in Omaha Nebraska. If you look at the pictures online of the Nats track. The dirt looks exactly like our outside track.

June 20th

Memorial Weekend

July 15th and July 18th Roar Gas Nats

The outdoor track is taking shape with some more improvements coming soon. Lots of interest in summer racing this year should be good.

I dont think 3 is enough running outside. We need at least 6-8 marshals usually so the classes need to be larger even if we combine them. But i cant see running those things with another class.

I've only seen one other person with one of those and that was at OCC last year to just screw around. I'd be very surpised if you'd find enough to race that class. Good Luck.

I got a silly question. How long will the heats/mains run for the electric classes? 5 or 6 minutes?

My vote is for 6 minutes. The ROAR electric nationals will be 6 minute qualifiers and mains. Jim and Jeff will have the final say though.

speaking of longer electric mains, is there any chance we can have a race or two with 10+minute slash mains? Even if it's only 1 special event or something I think it would be cool.

For the classes with large enough turnout, how about bump ups too

I think that would be cool for both. We'll have to bring both ideas up to Jim and Jeff. See what they say about it.
