Trackside TCS Race March 2-4 2007

Sounds like fun. St. Charles is only a half hour or so away from us. We hit up a couple "races" in Naperville, but the pavement is horrible and they don't even run races. Where can I find out more info, like race dates and other classes

i am gonna come out and race this summer at the hobbytown ... so if you could post some dates that would be awesome... and if the ta05 r comes out soon i will join in the gt3 fun minus the body

can someone start a new thread for this track in St. Charles with more info? Like what classes do they run, track address, etc? Does this place have an AMB lap counting system? That would be very helpful info. I know with IRP closed, many people are looking for an outdoor onroad place to race. I think many would be interested in running some mod/brushless rubber outside.

very good point...... but who knows maybe they want to keep the hobbytown racing to the underground crowd

Hobbytown usually starts in May and has 2 races a month.
2 in May, June, July
3 Aug
2 Sept
Free pizza awards/raffle in end of Sept
They are roughly on Rt 64 & Kirk road South of the mall on 64 by I think Office Depot (one of those office supply stores).
Last years last race was a Tri-Oval, the rest were road course.
I heard about the fox valley parking lot, Hobbytown St Charles is pretty smooth, maybe a few bumps, nothing crazy. It is pretty big layout, usually good straights and wide lanes to carry speed, bigger than any indoor tracks in the area. Uses AMB and they usually lay down some pop spray. People usually bring generators so there is plenty of AC power and cords ran throughout the pits.
Classes have been
Mod
Stock
GT3 (Any sedan Tamiya Mabuchi/Johnson motor)
Gas Sedan
Gas Truck
Mini T
pretty much if 3 or more show they make a class.
There is also talk of Tamiya Mini Class.
I will call them tomorrow, last I checked a few weeks ago, there was no schedule. I will start a new thread tomorrow after I talk to Hobbytown.
One thing to remember you will need to pay attention to what and when your race is up. They keep the event moving and will not wait forever for guys to get to the line for their races.

That definitely sounds like it would be fun rather then when I went to the Naperville Hobbytown and they seemed to be very inexperienced and didn't even set up a good track(they barley knew who Tamiya was). It's definitely better than nothing but I still wish a carpet track would open back up.

Yeah, I think there would be many happy racers if a track opened in the area. For a while there was talk in Naperville area but I think between rent and ambition, it went by the wayside. Before IRP closed Shane was talking about putting his stuff into storage with hopes for a year or two maybe opening his own track in Sycamore area. It could happen but I think he has more important things to take care of.

MoshMike and Hollywood- Can someone please confirm that the package I left with Nancy up front was shipped to Seattle? Tracking number would be nice if you can dig it up. Need to make sure it gets there by Friday...
Thanks!
