Hey everyone,
I'm doing the brushless project to the mini inferno and created this site.

Thank you so much for trying to help bring back the community for the Mini Inferno, the main forum ( www.half-8.com/forums) is practically dead but if you search past posts, there is a lot of information.

I noticed there is little from these forums,
i went onto half8 hoping to find a world of information,
but as a result there is nothing
This site will have the best prices lists for all the parts eventually
I will keep it upto date too!

Hi Adrian Ive had experience with a mini inferno too. If I were to advise a brushless combo, Id say the wraith 7k and mamba 25 is you are doing speed runs, (why not quark ? I know people who blew theres up and regret getting one, everyone I know loves the mamba), for a toned down combo, I would get a mamba 5400/4200 with the mamba 25.

Yeah I have a friend with the same Tekin system but the 8k motor. I love the ESC casing and design. I also found that it is very very responsive to gearing and I find that a real plus because you can have such a variety of speeds, torque, and control.
IMO good choice, simple and effective.

The best combo for the Mini Inferno right now is the Wraith 7K + Quark 33a Pro Car. I know the guy Jerome is talking about and he blew up his Quark with a 4 cell LiPo and insane pinion gear numbers. If you are normal, the Quark won't blow up on you. Right now, Mamba 25's are using different computer chips than before, and unless you want a used Mamba 25, they're not a good option. The only Mamba motors to go with in your Mini Inferno are the 4200 and 5400, because the higher the kv rating, the less torque and the higher the temps. The only reason the Wraith is a nice motor is because it is a 400 sized motor and has more torque than a 280, or smaller motor. I wouldn't go above 6000kv if its 280 or smaller.

Yeah i guess 6800kv would be pretty good with the tekin esc.
I can always change the motor around if necessary if its not quite good enough
I'm now debating what might need to be hopped up to cope with something like the 280 6800kv system.
The mini inferno is stock gearbox wise i believe!

Hi Adrian, Mini Infernos are less than stock lol. Parts that are neccesarily upgradable to handle the brushless system are the following:
1. CVD's
2. Ball diffs
3. I would get alloy dog bones for the drive shaft
4. Bearings
I disagree with Jaydin that temperatures in the small high kv rating brushless motors is an issue, and even if it is (which I know it isnt because I ran my C4 dynamite insanely hot that it split my skin when I touched it but it still was not hot enough to thermal) just use the lower gearing ratios which I prefer using with the Tekin system anyway. I have driven a car with the system and it is very very very responsive and has insanly controllable speeds.
Good luck with your testing of motors and such.
Just a little tip, parts that are perishables such as A arms and shock towers imo should be kept plastic because its cheap to replace. Alloy is a problem because if you crash hard it will bend, leaving you with a ruined shock tower AS WELL as a a bent shockshaft (I have learnt this the hard way). People say get carbon fibre shock towers but they are probably only slightly stronger than plastic, but it has no flex, so when it breaks, it shatters, and costs alot more than replacing a plastic shock tower.

i couldn't imagine the stock shock towers breaking,
I've done some pretty bad hits with the 9.6v setup and it was fine.
I do understand i am going quite a bit faster..

Ive never had experience with the dogbones breaking but "popping out" is what happens more often.
When I had my mini inferno, I broke 4 cup joints (which are the bits that the wheels pops onto) in 1 week, and I wasnt even bashing my car.
When you get your tekin your car will go FAST, and parts will break if you crash, so if you ever make orders from rcmart or wherever when you break a part, buy maybe 3 or 4 more because that part is probably prone to breaking.

Is this the hub part that the actual rim sits over?
Or is this the part where the dogbones actually sit in?
