Bringing rcraceresults.com back - would appreciate input
#1
Hi,
I had run a website about 4 years ago called 'rcraceresults.com' as a place to archive r/c race results. Unfortunately, it got hacked so I took it down. I also ended up getting super busy with work and snagged the server I was using for something else. I keep getting asked if I am going to bring it back and just have not had the gumption.
That server is now free for use again and I would like to bring the rcraceresults.com website back. I will be doing it in wiki format so that folks can add/edit results as long as they are a registered user.
I am trying to finalize how to organize the site and figured you would know best how you would want the data organized, or at least have some great ideas.
The results would be for worldwide events (not just USA events) so keep that in mind.
I was planning on organizing the results by "level of event":
Worlds
Nationals
Regionals
Race Series
Club
Results under each of those would be grouped by at least the following:
Onroad (ie: 1/12th, TC, Motorcycles, Oval, Mini, Drag)
Offroad (ie: buggy, truck, monster, oval)
Planes, Helicopters
Boats
Events I do not know how to classify
I was not sure how to classify some events, however. Would events such as the Snowbird Nationals, US Indoor Champs, Novak race, and Reedy Race of Champions fall under Nationals?
Anyways, this is not something I am doing to make money - just something to give back to the R/C community.
Thanks for your ideas!

Well, I have the basic site layout almost done. I unfortunately do not the race results I had gathered 4 years ago, however, so I will have to compile that all from scratch again. Ugh.
So, if anyone has or can point me to old race results from various races (ie: Reedy ROC, Snowbirds, IIC, etc) please let me know. I am also having a very hard time finding IFMAR worlds results.
I am adding the results from the ROAR website. Is NORRCA still around?
Thanks!

rich, that's cool. i know you can still get to some recent results at liverc.com. you click on live scoring window, seled the track, and the results (by heat) come up on the right.
as far as categorizing the results, i think your idea is fine. another way would be to do it chronologically. they both make sense, but you won't have to worry about labeling each race doing it by date.
