Palm Desert R/C Raceway http://www.palmdesertrcraceway.com formerly Hobbytown Palm Desert is back in full swing. We will be bringing back the 6th Annual Toys for Tots race on December 4th to the place where it all started. Thunder Alley has graciously give us the chance to have our race back again. Weather should be a whole lot warmer too.

We currently have practice on Wed, Fri, Sat nights from 6pm to 9pm with racing starting soon.

The track layout is 150 x 90 with a surface that has more traction than ashault. We have been working with a local construction company to come up with a surface that wont blowout and will have maximum traction. The current layout is very short course friendly but all are welcome.

We are fully equiped with Handicap ramp, 40ft driver stand, 40ft pit lane, power, lighting, tables , Air, wash station, PA System, Scoring.

We hae also just aquired a complete AMB scoring system with handout transponders for those that dont have personals.

We hope to have many of the large race series and special races that we have held in the past like the JBRL. Stay tuned for current info on the track

Well we had are first unofficial clubrace last night. Just a quicky test of the scoring system and PA. Wed night are gettting bigger and better each week as the weather is cooling off.

This year’s Toys for Tots is going to be better than ever. We want to thank Rob & Levi Jackson of Thunder Alley R/C Raceway for the opportunity to bring the race back to where it all started at Palm Desert R/C Raceway. The sponsors are coming onboard nicely and we should have a great Raffle to benefit Toys for Tots.
We of course are keeping it simple and offering limited classes. The one big change this year will be all sponsored driver must run in the Pro Class, if you get a discount on product or a full ride you are sponsored... Somebody thinks your fast enough and that’s good enough for us. Last year Rob Jackson of Thunder Alley started the 12 and under class and because this is a race about Kids we wanted to keep with that newly started tradition. They will be able to run whatever they bring as it’s about the fun and not really the rules for this class, of course the parents will get involved as they will become the turn marshals for the kids. (We want to keep them safe)
In the next few weeks we will announce the rules for each of the classes. The weather here is usually much warmer and with the track against the mountain it’s usually sheltered enough from wind and weather. The track has gone through too many improvements to list. All I can say is if you liked it before just wait...
We will have the Marines from 29 palms collecting the toys and a special presentation of colors from one of the local scout troops. Another great thing just came together. Dan Mets from www.desertskycam.com com will be providing Aerial footage of the race event though the day with his Helicopter cam. This should be a very cool thing to watch after the race.
I can’t wait to bring this all back to where it started and see everyone having a blast again at the track.

This was from a quick search on Hotels.com Remember there are many
many more hotels that dont show up on the list. There are several
Motel 6's that might be cheaper. Anywhere in the valley isn't far
away as we are pretty central in location. At most maybe it would
take you 20min to get to the track from Palm Springs or Indio. Also 3
of the casino's now have hotels attached, Fantasy Springs Casino in
Indio, Aqua Caliente Casio in Rancho Mirage, Spa Casino in Palm
Springs all have hotels

Neighboring Citys in order are:
To the East- Indian Wells, Laquinta, Indio, Coachella
To the West- Rancho Mirage, Cathedral City, Palm Springs

Little update,

We are closed this Wed, Friday, Sat as the track is under reconstruction. We are making many many improvements for T4T. Pit table lighting is being installed this week, Track boarder Chain Length fencing, Hot pit area, new Wash and Cleaning stations.

We will open next week for Toys for Tots Practice.

We will also be changing to our fall Schedule next Week

The Track rebuild went great. Chris really designed a great layout.
We will reopen this Sat from noon to 5pm for practice. Then its back to our regular schedule.
