Time? Classes?

Rcbasher06 07-11-2007 04:17 PM

yes we are racing this sunday the track will be set up by 8am so practice starts about then then racing starts at 10

veejay323 07-12-2007 03:02 PM

What classes do you run?
Or is it just open racing?

K_King 07-12-2007 03:19 PM

Are there any plans for lap counting other than hand? It would make it a lot more fun for the drivers when they know how fast they went or their lap times.

Almost sounds like a glorified parking lot race but it would be something to consider.

there are plans in the future, but the owner wants to see how big of a turnout we have before spending a considerable amount of money on a lap counting system.

What classes will be run? Is it electric only or will there also be some gas classes?

I will be traveling to SD in September and I'm curious if there will be some nitro racing.

Thanks,

Rcbasher06 07-13-2007 02:55 PM

if there is enough people with 1/10 gas then we will run them, but right now it's mostly electric.

Billy-Ho 07-14-2007 07:07 PM

What up John!

Just wanted ask what time the shop is able to sell things, cuz i want some tire traction asap. Can't get beat my local guys! You Know:sneaky:

Saw you up at barona, eighth scale coming into the arsenal?:sneaky:

Rcbasher06 07-15-2007 07:17 AM

i have access to the shop at 6am so i could run it out back for you, i just might have an 8IGHTH scale in the works.

MikeR 07-15-2007 07:35 PM

Hey Frank and DHW crew,

Thanks for putting on some good ol fashion parking lot racing! Turn out was pretty good for it being only the 2nd race. The location has a lot of potential and you can't beat that cool coastal breeze.

I had a good time and will be back for more.

Billy- it was fun runnin with you in practice! It really helped me dial in my car for the heats.

veejay323 07-16-2007 07:28 AM

Had a good time! that mod main was fun to watch

I'll try to make it next time... and i'll bring my 18th scale also.
Comic-Con is that weekend too so I might be there instead.........

Rcbasher06 07-16-2007 09:27 AM

i appreciate you guys coming out. the next races will be july 29th.

Jon Kerr 07-16-2007 01:31 PM

veejay323 07-16-2007 02:37 PM

Would it be ok to park along those garages and use my truck bed as a drivers stand if theres enough room?

Hi Jon,
Would be great to have a pipe or board barrier in front of the driver stand area. A car launched right into my foot in the main....OUCH!! And maybe set it about 2 feet away from the track so that all the drivers stand back from the track so that you can see the left and right corners without someones radio blocking your view;)

Unless of coarse veejay brings his driver stand!

i apprreciate the suggestions. i will try to get a piece of plywood to use as a barrier for the drivers stand and the end of the straight.

J.JOHNSON 07-17-2007 09:36 AM

MikeR 07-17-2007 11:53 AM

price for 4?

MikeR 07-17-2007 02:33 PM

Yup. If you put together your own tires make sure you use very thin inserts. The air gap creates more grip.

Jon Kerr 07-17-2007 02:38 PM

Mike, are those Speedmind inserts similar to a Yokomo 039F or 039M like we usd to run at SoCal?

MikeR 07-17-2007 03:06 PM

Hey Jon- not sure. Been years since I've ran at socal so I don't have any yoke inserts. I'm sure the yokomos would work perfect from what I remember they were like rubber bands..

J.JOHNSON 07-18-2007 08:34 AM

im gonna buy an mi3 in about 3 weeks...so watch out fellas

mountaindr3wz 07-18-2007 10:36 AM

i havent seen anyone with 1/12 scale, the next race is the 29th

Jon Kerr 07-18-2007 04:31 PM

1/12 scale on a parking lot would be tough. You need a very smooth, clean, and flat surface to run 1/12 scale on. I have a dialed CRC 3.2r carpet knife, but it's setup for the rug. (If I ever get back on the rug that is.) Don't really want to take it out onto the asphalt and tear it up. It's too purdy as a carpet car. ;)
