Curtis..looking forward to getting that 10x1 I ordered today. Do you have any recommendation for a starting drive ratio and timing? I run on a large outdoor asphalt track with med traction..

Thanks..Mark Gardner

I'd start it between 18º and 20º for a 10x1. I run mine at 24º with no problems, but you might want to be safe and start lower then go up. For gear ratio just ask the locals, its hard to say without knowing the track layout and size. If they're running a different different wind, its pretty safe to say 1 tooth lower for every lower wind and vice versa. If your running the UL arms then start with gearing down 1 more tooth from a standard arm. I was running a 7x2 a guy gave me(to keep ) and was trying do dump with it so I timed it up to 22º and it blew up . So I'm going to keep my 7's under 18º I think .

Curtis - Any idea when my order will come? Thanks.

Well..... there are not any acutal machines.

Some have a handcrank while others have a motor interegrated that uses a foot pedal to control speed. Each one is pretty much custom made.

Mini-Dub: Good advice ..... You should have your order Saturday.

Drew85: Like Jeff said the winders we use are 100% custom built units. You're not going to find any pictures on the net

Curtis,

hi curtis, would you recommend gearing a single and a double differently, for a flowing small track?

thanks- jason

Hey Jason,

Well if your comparing double and single winds, both of our brand (DC), this is what I’d say:

Start with the same gearing for both, and tune from there. Each motor will have it's own sweet spot, probably no greater difference than 0.5 points on the FDR between both the motors...

Try the motor like it is, the 766's work quite well on our KR Outlaw 19 Motor... Red springs are a good starting point for the big comm motors; remember the bigger comm pushes the brush out further so your spring tension increases.... All our outlaw 19 arms are wound with 18Awg wire.... Hope this helps.

Thanks Curtis

would XXX Lemans laydown brushes be a good alternative

bjspinner: Indeed the XXX brushes will work great on your Outlaw KR motor ...

Hey Curtis,

Some of the green insulation (not sure the right name for it) on my UL arm flaked off. Should I be concerned?
