For stock i run 24/26 tooth pinion to a 76tooth spur.

Tried running the 19t the other day on a high grip large flowing track and i was gearing it with a 32/35 tooth pinion. But still was not sure if it was right ...

I drive a 415 with foams on outdoor asphalt tracks ..

pls advise thanx ...
Hey Drifter

The 19 turn is dynoed at different amp loads than the stocks are. Thats the reason in RPM difference. Are you running foam tires or rubber tires?

We need to know the size of tires if your running foam. Since your running foams start somewhere around a Final drive ratio of 5.80. keep an eye on the color of the comm!

How long is the track ( front or back straight), is it technical, and what are typical lap times?

I race on foam tires with a dia of 61mm ... final drive was best at 5.09 ... straight is prob 40m long ...

narrow sweepers in the mid field ...

best times was 14 laps 5.08

speedxl, please tell what the color of the comm indicates. I've noticed that sometimes the comm turns an orange color and sometimes it stays shiny copper color. Does the color indicate heat due to under-gearing or something else? Thanks in advance.

here's my color scheme.

comm/wires color
BLACK: buy a new motor.
DARK BROWN: toasted (same with the wires) beyond way over geared. smoking! there goes that motor.
Brown: getting to "toasted" WAY over geared.
Orange: over geared a tad.. better gear down.
Copper: gearing is just right.

oh ya..EA..toasted a C19 last saturday. car was fast. after my run.... smelled like i was BBQing some ribs or something.

If its coppered colored then you pretty much hit the gearing right. If its red you need to lower the ratio by going bigger on the pinion gear. If it looks orange you may need to go down one pinion , going to a higher ratio.
