Just placed an order for an IP 3800 lipo and 17.5 duo. Running Novak now... just throw it in and go or should I gear a little differently?... timing?.... this is for carpet/rubber tire. This is my first deviation from Novak's brushless motors.... I'm excited to try something different.

with the trinity motors, I have seen most guys gear these way higher then the novaks, try what you normaly run then go up a tooth from there and so on and check the temp of it..
and as far as timing I leave them at the most timing option, that way you guys can start there. I recommend just going to the middle hole right off the bat to most though, and if you guys want more torque from that point, increase the timing all the way..
maybe I can get maybell to chime in on his opinions,he runs carpet, He can give you a better idea for gearing and etc...

Welcome to the team K Spec!
I wouldnt say that I am a gearing guru but with the HV Duo motors I definately gear higher than most motors...For example most guys are gearing a rubber TC 5.0-5.1 at Seattle Indoor Raceway in 13.5....I am geared 4.8-4.9 with my 13.5 and I have great rip at 150 deg!
