Smile Recommendation on Radio sets

Guys,

Need advice on getting my next radio set in Hong Kong. I"m currently using a Futaba MJ... very very basic stuff.

My budget is around S$350 and I stress on perf and service/repair in S'pore. Also prefer something not too bulky and not too many fancy functions. AM or FM also can.

M8 too expensive, bty consuming and bulky for me. Dislike the KO designs.

JR-XR3 looks promising but no local repair in S'pore... need to ship to Japan as told by local shop here... sigh.

Any advice....

some one said before you can by a ko mars ex1 and receiver for 300 bucks. thats the cheapest that fit ya bill.

the down side is that you have to buy your own servo.

each good servo is abt 120 to 150...

so at 350 you cant buy much.

for normal use just buy the new futaba megatech Jr will do.

with so little money and too many dislikes ... save your money and stick to your basic radio. Otherwise only Futaba 3PDF, Sanwa CX2P (if u can still find one) and KO EX1 fits your bill ...

... and PROFI, but no local service ...

Hi,

forget about buying from Hong Kong.
For Singapore $450, you can get a brand new M8 with receiver, charger and fully Nicad with 02 VB servo from e-mail [email protected] and if it get spoiled, you can repair it here from him.

Default radio

Not many functions and not too bulky for 350?
3PDF I guess.
For cheaper price you may want to consider JR Cobra.
Also not so many funcs.
Btw, where can u get XR3 (made in MAL)?
cheers.

The 3PDF is a mid range controller but it is good enough for most. As for the 9402 servos, it's one of the best you can get from futaba, fast and reliable, mine still going strong after almost 2 years of usage.

Hey guys.... got the radio set already!!! IT IS GREAT!! the 9402 servos( it says right there on the sticker) are super...plus the owner was very helpful in taking the time to explain the functions to me....I think that this radio is all i ever need... the steering rate is definitely not sluggish but i don't have the horn for throttle, so going to get it today!!Mwahahahaha finally got proper radio gear.... look out for a blue dodge tearin' up a track near YOU!!!Thanx for your views guys!
