Default Exotek EXP Photon LiPo Chassis now in stock @ Quantum!

The all new EXOTEK EXP performance ultra narrow lipo chassis for the Photon.

- 2.3mm thick quasi weave carbon fiber chassis for improved steering and rear traction. Go into corners deeper and power out stronger.
- Only 88mm wide at the main chassis section to better utilize lower ride heights for more aggressive cornering.
- Standard North South servo mounting OR East West servo mounting choices. East West servo orientation requires trimming off of the steering crank arm and the Xray servo saver is suggested.
- Using the East West servo option will give you much more room for electronics and fan placement.
- Stepped motor cutout for increased cutout strength.
- Includes carbon fiber battery hold in cups. Adjustable slider style allows the perfect fit for most batteries and does not interfere with the battery tape.

Default XRAY-ORCA podiums Modified Class at RCI On-Road Challenge 2011 Race 4 (July 3, 2011)

After 2 races were cancelled due to rain, Racecraft Infinity On-Road Challenge 2011 Race 4 finally resumed with 2 classes to compete, Modified Class and 17.5T Boosted Class. New layout made the track very technical with almost 3 seconds added to the laptimes. Still some part of the track needed to touch up, temporary protection barrier was in placed to get the event going!

In the Modified Class, Nicholas Lee and P.Y.Tang set early pace posting 16.974s and 17.061s respectively. Qualifying was unpredictable as starting position was picked randomly making passing traffic very difficult due to the technical layout. TQ went to Nicholas Lee with P.Y.Tang and EC Wee lining up 2nd and 3rd in the grid.

Top 10 Qualifying Standings (A-Main Modified Class)
1. Nicholas Lee - Tamiya TRF417/Speed Passion/Speed Passion/Reedy - 21 laps 6:07.343
2. P.Y.Tang - XRAY T3'11/ORCA Vritra/ORCA QX1/ORCA Infinite - 21 laps 6:09.499
3. EC Wee - XRAY T3'11/ORCA Vritra/ORCA RX2/ORCA Infinite - 21 laps 6:14.552
4. Chee Lip Keong - Tamiya TRF417/LRP/LRP/H-Energy - 20 laps 6:06.910
5. Hasron - Yokomo BD5/ORCA Vritra/ORCA RX2/ORCA Infinite - 20 laps 6:10.038
6. Colin Tong - XRAY T3 Exotek/ORCA Vritra/ORCA RX2/Team Powers - 20 laps 6:11.826
7. Kevin Wong - TOP Photon CEFX/Tekin - 19 laps 6:02.254
8. HJ Quek - XRAY T3 Exotek/Tekin/Thunder Power - 19 laps 6:08.310
9. William AJ - Tamiya 416X/Novak/Novak - 19 laps 6:08.310
10. Leonard Sim - TOP Photon/ORCA Vritra/ORCA QX1/ORCA Infinite - 9 laps 2:58.656

As expected, the finals for Modified Class will be a tight race for Nicholas Lee and P.Y.Tang. Final A1 started off clean, with P.Y.Tang looking with a faster pace following closely behind Nicholas Lee. Unfortunately, P.Y.Tang traction rolled in the in-field allowing EC Wee to pass. While Nicholas Lee running away for the win, it was a tough battle for 2nd, EC Wee closing up every line. P.Y.Tang then made a move at the end of straights braking very late, overtaking 2nd. Final A2 was unlucky for Nicholas Lee as he spun out corner 3 causing accidents and seeing him retired from battery falling out. P.Y.Tang cruised in for the win with EC Wee in 2nd and Hasron with a consistent run in 3rd. Final A3 was neck to neck to the end for the top 2 who was still fighting for the 1st overall. This final saw 3 different drivers led the run, with Chee Lip Keong leading, when P.Y.Tang and Nicholas Lee made early mistakes. P.Y.Tang caught up in 2nd place trying to overtake but 2 contacts with Chee Lip Keong created a chance for Nicholas Lee to pass and took the lead. Less than a minute to go, Nicholas Lee and P.Y.Tang was neck to neck up to the 6th-minute, unable to pass P.Y.Tang had to settle for 2nd with 144/1000th seconds behind.

Top 10 Final Standings (A-Main Modified Class)
1. Nicholas Lee - Tamiya TRF417/Speed Passion/Speed Passion/Reedy - 2 pts
2. P.Y.Tang - XRAY T3'11/ORCA Vritra/ORCA QX1/ORCA Infinite - 3 pts
3. Chee Lip Keong - Tamiya TRF417/LRP/LRP/H-Energy - 6 pts
4. EC Wee - XRAY T3'11/ORCA Vritra/ORCA RX2/ORCA Infinite - 6 pts
5. Hasron - Yokomo BD5/ORCA Vritra/ORCA RX2/ORCA Infinite - 7 pts
6. Colin Tong - XRAY T3 Exotek/ORCA Vritra/ORCA RX2/Team Powers - 11 pts

Default ORCA podium 4WD GT & TQ/win Super Stock at Tamiya Asia Cup Rnd5 (July 17, 2011)

The Tamiya Asia Cup Singapore Qualifying 2011 Round 5 took place at the Singapore Expo with the track open from July 14-17, 2011. Entries went up as the air-conditioned venue and carpet track attracted many racers to join. Heading into Round 5 and nearing to the Tamiya Asia Cup Finals, it would be the first time that many racers looked forward to race on carpet.

4WD GT qualifying saw a battle between P.Y.Tang and Nicholas Lee, both running the all-new TA06Pro chassis, and both clocking under 10 second lap. P.Y.Tang could not not managed to get a clean run made a few mistake in Q1 and Q2 but clocked the only 30-lapper, but Nicholas Lee took the TQ honour on Q3 with a cleaner run.

Top 3 Qualifying Standings A-Main (4WD GT):

3. Chee Lip Keong - TA05R V2 - H-Energy - 27 laps 5:02.343 - 10.245s

Final A1 4WD GT did not see much of a battle, with P.Y.Tang matching Nicholas Lee for the first minute. P.Y.Tang got stuck in the in-field lost grounds with a big gap to catch the leader. Nicholas Lee cruised on to take the win, with Esmail in 2nd followed by P.Y.Tang in 3rd. Final A2 started off well for P.Y.Tang overtaking on the inside line at the first corner when Nicholas Lee was caught off guard. P.Y.Tang went on to lead for the first 4-minute with a few minor contacts in between. Unfortunate contact in the last minute P.Y.Tang lost a lot of time, with that Nicholas Lee went on to win Final A2 and the overall win, P.Y.Tang came in 2nd and Chee Lip Keong in 3rd. P.Y.Tang took an easy win in Final A3 when Nicholas Lee broke his car around the 2-minute mark. With the win in Final A3, P.Y.Tang took overall 2nd and Chee Lip Keong finished a consistent run to take overall 3rd.

In the Super Stock class, young Daryl Thong took TQ in his ORCA-powered TT01E looking in a much better form in carpet racing. Hong Jie Ming qualified 2nd while Kevin Wong started 3rd from the grid. A more entertaining Super Stock class saw 13 cars all squeezed into the final mains. Daryl Thong ran the Final A1 and A2 superbly running away cleaning from the start and avoiding a lot of the accidents, took the overall win. Not so lucky for Hong Jie Ming who started 2nd, involved in pile-ups and dropped down in the pack, and allowing Shawn Chow to capitalize to take overall 2nd. Kevin Wong finished a strong 3rd overall.

Default XRAY-ORCA win at the Total Hobby EP Touring Race (July 31, 2011)

Organizer Total Hobby put up a race on July 31, 2011 at the Puteri Mart Race Track in Johor Bahru which attracted over 30 drivers in the 1/10 EP Touring Class and 1/10 2WD Mini Open Class. With 2 mains in the 1/10 EP Touring Class, qualifying format was slightly different from the usual best 1 of 3 rounds. 4 qualifying rounds were ran with 2 best to count. This format gave a new challenge to the drivers which consistency was crucial. Track layout was small and technical, with track surface very rough making tire wear harsh.

Top qualifying position went to P.Y.Tang who made 24 laps twice in round 1 and 3. Cloudy weather made track temperature to stay well below 40degC in the qualifying rounds which made car settings a bit easier without changing too many things, while using the Acorn Racing Tyre Cleaner with the Mighty Gripper V2 gave an extra edge of traction for P.Y.Tang. B.H.Gan surprised the crowd which he ran a consistent run managed to jump into 2nd spot in the last round of qualifying, overtaking the local favorite Ken Ng who settled in 3rd spot. It was a good start for Xray drivers as top 7, and 8 drivers in the Top 10 were all running the Xray T3 and T3'11.

Top 10 Qualifying Standings (Open Modified):
1. P.Y.Tang - Xray T3'11 - ORCA - 24 laps 5:17.548 (R1), 24 laps 5:16.495 (R3) - 0 pts
2. B.H.Gan - Xray T3'11 - 23 laps 5:02.038 (R2), 23 laps 5:06.012 (R4) - 4 pts
3. Ken Ng - Xray T3'11 - 23 laps 5:02.778 (R2), 23 laps 5:00.069 (R3) - 5 pts
4. James Ki - Xray T3'11 - 23 laps 5:09.401 (R2), 23 laps 5:01.937 (R3) - 7 pts
5. Lee Han Chuang - Xray T3 - 23 laps 5:02.423 (R1), 23 laps 5:11.478 (R2) - 7 pts
6. Bernard Lee - Xray T3 - 23 laps 5:05.897 (R1), 23 laps 5:12.634 (R4) - 8 pts
7. Ah Loon - Xray T3 - 22 laps 5:02.682 (R1), 23 laps 5:12.361 (R3) - 10 pts
8. Paul Lok - Tamiya TRF417 - 22 laps 5:04.579 (R1), 22 laps 5:01.413 (R2) - 12 pts
9. David Lai - Yokomo BD5 - 22 laps 5:04.948 (R1), 22 laps 5:00.420 (R3) - 14 pts
10. Ming Kai - Xray T3 - 23 laps 5:13.216 (R3), 22 laps 5:06.796 (R4) - 15 pts

The finals was rather interesting this time, with 3 different drivers each won a final. Final A1 won by P.Y.Tang about 5 seconds ahead of Ken Ng in 2nd and Jonest Wong in 3rd. In Final A2, P.Y.Tang was on a cruising mode to take the win but a mistake rolling off the curb gave B.H.Gan the lead in the final minute and the win by just 0.5s, while Ken Ng followed closely in 3rd. With 3 drivers still able to take the overall win from Final A3, the track condition changed, with P.Y.Tang struggled to maintain traction in the first corner at the sound of the tone. Ken Ng took the lead, while B.H.Gan squeezed into 2nd spot. Half way point B.H.Gan broke his rear belt and lost a lot of power dropping him down in the group. P.Y.Tang retook 2nd spot, with Ken Ng taking the win in Final A3. Points were tied but better oeverall timing went to P.Y.Tang for the overall win. Ken Ng took a respectable 2nd denying B.H.Gan who finished in 3rd.

Final Standings (Open Modified):
1. P.Y.Tang - Xray T3'11 - ORCA - 199 pts
2. Ken Ng - Xray T3'11 - 199 pts
3. B.H.Gan - Xray T3'11 - 195 pts
4. Bernard Lee - Xray T3 - 195 pts
5. Jonest Wong - Tamiya TRF417 - 193 pts
6. Ah Loon - Xray T3'11 - 193 pts
7. James Ki - Xray T3'11 - 192 pts
8. Lee Han Chuang - Xray T3 - 190 pts
9. Paul Lok - Tamiya TRF417 - 185 pts
10. David Lai - Yokomo BD5 - 184 pts
