Following the success of our first Drift Selection and in conjunction with K1 Bedok Motorsports Family Carnival, we are bringing you SDT Drift Challenge.

SDT Drift Challenge

Venue:

Bedok North St 2

Surface: Tarmac

Power point: Yes

Drift Format:

*Coming soon

No fees will be collected and lucky draw prizes will be up for grabs (Tamiya Bodyshells, Tamiya Parts, etc...)

Drift Challenge (Saturday, 5 April 2008, 4pm - 9pm)

Any chassis
Any tyres except PVC
Any motors and batteries

I thought there are more Takumis, Keisuke Takahashis, Buntas, Ryosuke Takahashis, DKs....

i noe u guys been secretly training at all those MSCP, well its time to showcase it to the public and prove u're the ONE! Drifting is about showing off! Wat better than a public event! Eh, they even cordoned off the road juz for u! Also heard some rumor that there will more of this kind of event/comp, BUT only if there are participants, if not BYE BYE

So if u or ur fren STILL haven sign up yet, still deciding, u better sign up NOW cos the maximum entry is 30!

Its NOT abt winning, its abt having fun and SHOWING OFF who is Better

Ok now for the serious bit:

Drift Format
1. Free/Open Practice
2. Comp Start: 1 Practice Run, 1 Judged Run for seeding.
*Subject to change, depend on track layout and size.
3. Results will be used for the table grouping and seeding.
4. Next will be the “Battle” stage, within the table. This will be in a league format. Everyone will meet each other in the table. Win is 3 pts, Draw is 1 pt, Lost is 0 pt. Top 2 will advance to the knock out stage.
5. Knock out stage will consist of 2 runs each. Alternating between “Lead” and “Chase” car. If no winner is declared in the 2 runs, it will go into sudden death. Winner to move on.
6. Final will be using the same format as the knock out stage.
*Like UEFA Champion League style

Judging
1. Entry Speed – Faster speed translate to higher risk, which will be awarded with more points.
2. Angle and Counter Steering – Oversteering will NOT be considered. Smooth transition and flow in attacking the corners.
3. Corner/Line/Apex Clipping – The closer to the apex, the more points.
4. Duration of Drift and Drifting line – Depending on the track layout, there will be different lines available. Ability to take the fastest, shortest and dangerous line will score more points. But sometimes, a faster/shortest line is not the best line to take. It depends on the next apex. The car needs to be “flowing”. Points will be awarded base on these combination.
*If the car is sliding away from the drifting line, points will be deducted.
*Sudden jerk of car will result in points being deducted.
5. Presentation and showmanship – Drifting is to be enjoyed by the crowds, so points will be awarded if you can awe the judges and crowds.

"Lead" Car
1. Try to drift and pull away from the “chaser”
2. Score points by out drifting the “chaser”

“Chasing” Car
1. To be as close to the “lead” car. The closer, the more points will be awarded.
2. Put pressure on the “lead” car till mistake is made
3. Try to mimic the “lead” car movement.
4. If the “lead” car shows bad driving, the “chaser” can try to score points by out drifting the “lead” car.
5. Overtaking IS allowed and points will be awarded. BUT if the “chaser” causes an accident, the “lead” car will be declared the winner. Once overtaken, the previous “lead” car can try to overtake back. Same rules apply.
