:-) zi-dong abit ok?
ok....I was just wondering if there is any category I could "legally" run my M03 in if I want to run it with a 23T motor....

well, sfour20,

no there isn't. so strap on the sport tunes, silver cans, other unrebuildables of similar winds and come play.

it's been decided that 23t on minis make the undrivable (some say), so we have heeded to logic carved it in stone.

it's your race after all, we just set the guidelines, we dunt tech your cars and it's really a honour system what you use in your car.

Yes, 23T shreds Mini front tires... unless you got lots of tires to shred, stick to Sports Tune.

That said, strap on a 23T and the M gearbox churns out a lovely tune down the strights, sounding alot like the real Swift S1600, or VTEC.... Ben and I had a blast, while the tires lasted...

Hi Alex,

yup....i know its down to individual "honour"....that's is precisely the reason I am asking if there is any appropriate category I should run a 23T M03 in....something like a totally open category....because I personally find it much more thrilling to run an M03 with 23T rather than the common sports tune motor....:P

However, I definitely do not want to be a spoil sport by running a 23T M03when everybody else in the race is on the black cans....any wins will be prideless....any loses will the butt of many jokes....haha....

Never mind then....if I cannot find an appropriate category to run a 23T M03, I'll just wipe the dust off my sports tune motor and strap it on for a long overdued run....all in the name of fun...

Cheers....

Hi Ray,

oh yes....the M03 is so thrilling with a 23T....my M03 had been condemned to a forsakened corner of my car boot after I got a little bored with it and I was really reluctant run a 23T with it after hearing all the negative feedback....until saw a bodyshell that I just had to buy....and when the bodyshell was completed....I just had to run it on the track to do the bodyshell justice....and because I was too lazy to dig out the sports tune motor, i just simply plug on a loose RZ I had lying around within arms reach....and my M03 had at least a 23T on it ever since..and it enjoyed much more track time then before....

but surprisingly, I am still on my first set of super slicks since I had my M03 6 months ago though I did kill a set of radials and a set of x-pattern along the way....I even ran my M03 with a 12T for a couple of packs until the 12T died on me....haha....but i do wheel rotation though....maybe that helped a bit in prolonging the tyre's lifespan....

I think I am rattling off topic here....sorry....but I am sticking with my 23T M03 for my track days....with the exception of organised races of course....

FP is right.... however this is what you can do, if you insist of stick to 23T for M chassis:

- Convert it to a FF02 chassis & replaced with TL01 arms
- Increase the wheelbase to 240mm using the adaptor that comes with the M03R kit
- Replace the mini dog bone / CVD with a 39mm unit
- Put on a TC shell
- Use TC tires (My FF02M with 23T does not have so much tire problem as the TC tire has lower profile side wall compared to the mini sized tires)

I did the above M03 to FF02M conversion because I want it to become a FWD rally car project previously...

However please seek official confirmation on your eligable to take part in class 1, TC

I suggest you listen to FP as it will cost you less to just buy a used Sports Tuned motor...

You guys just open up a can of worms... which reminds me I could make some adjustment to the suspension / dampers of my FF02M & plug in a sport tuned to join the fun race which are fielded with all the M buddies now...

Gotta go dig out my FF02M from the pile of junks...
