Your local offroad 4x4 dealership is clearing out these 3 fine pre-loved 4x4 trucks , with the very rare and intricate shiftable 3 speed tranmission (4WD in First gear, 2WD and 2nd and 3rd gears), all in excellent mechanical shape for their age (oldest being a fine 23, 18 and then 8 years old). Currently non-running but can be made operational with minimal fuss in radio and servo linkages. Worn-out mechanical components replaced with new items where available, gearboxes on all three trucks are low-mileage.

First up is the grand daddy:

- Acquired from the US, with additional tire inserts, original transistorized speed controller, original (probably dead-due-to-age battery pack), missing side mirror, rear Toyota logo, light roadrash on body. Tires are still supple. Lockable front hubs still lock. One broken rear tab in battery box. I did not break anything when this truck was in my care. I only hooked up a battery to make sure the mechanicals were in working order, and that the transmission shifted properly, so I never actually drove this one.

- A converted Mountaineer. I bought a used Bruiser body from the US and turned this into a Bruiser, but it is actually a Mountaineer chassis. They are almost the same (see the Mountaineer factsheet link below for differences). Missing the side mirror, body rash from previous owner's use, single minor crack on tailgate. I ran this chassis before, and I can leave the Futaba 3PDF radio system in the truck for this one. As well as a Novak Racer ESC. Chassis is straight, and I only ran this truck on dirt once for pictures. Tires have full treads. This body also has front headlights installed with white LEDs for the HID look.

- An original Mountaineer, I stripped the body, repainted it, painted the cracked windscreen black to simulate deep tinting, again no side mirror, this chassis has little mileage on it. I bought and applied new decals on this truck. Rear tailgate is missing the licence plate and is cracked. An accident with thinner meant that the detail on the tailgate isn't as sharp as it used to be (the thinner softened the plastic on application, but hardened again after clearing off the thinner). Tires have full treads. This one hasn't been driven either.

These trucks are from an long gone era when Tamiya made their cars out of metal, not only looked, but worked truly like 1/10th scale versions of their full size brethren.

I spent considerable time and effort to acquire and restore these trucks and would like to be suitably compensated for giving them up. Though these trucks are going to be passed on to new owners, do be aware that these are out-of-production, and their values would not be dropping. In fact they rise as time goes by, and would continue to (unless Tamiya took it upon themselves to re-issue). But as experience with the Mountaineer showed, a reissue did not affect the values of the previous trucks. Each is a unique model.

As before stated, Ebay prices are a fair gauge of how much one should pay for one of these trucks, but do be aware the weight of each of these to ship into Singapore makes postage cost run well into the three digits, as well as taxes due to GST et al.

I have these trucks here in Singapore and would request that a competitive offer be made with that in mind. Viewing can be pre-arranged at my convenience.
