FEMCA member, Malaysia, has kindly offered to host the above event and it will be held at the Kota Raja Speedway, Klang, Malaysia from December 1-5, 2005. On behalf of all FEMCA members, I wish to thank the Malaysian Association, RCMRC for its willingness to host this event, the first FEMCA ISTC Championship.
A comprehensive Report and the entry form is attached. Please distribute it to all your members as soon as possible. Further details can be found on http://www.rcmrc.com
All entry forms and entry fees are to be forwarded to the drivers' national association. The national association is requested to forward the forms and fees to the organiser in Malaysia by the closing date of September 30, 2005.
N.B. Only drivers from countries who are current financial members of FEMCA can compete at the event and these drivers must be current financial members of their country's national Association.
At this time, only the following countries are financial members of FEMCA: Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan and Thailand.
In addition, because FEMCA Championships are run to IFMAR World Championship Rules, it will be necessary for FEMCA countries to select the controlled tyre and insert to be used at the FEMCA event. Please see Page 2. It is requested that your country's vote be returned to me by JUNE 30, 2005.

What does "Kota Raja" Speedway means?
It means "City of Kings", KLANG - beautiful and peaceful, the centre of economic and social activities.Situated 32 km to the south-west of Kuala Lumpur, it is the main gateway into Malaysia by sea. This 75 square km. royal town of Selangor Darul Ehsan, is one of the oldest in Malaysia. The historical findings dated back to more than 2,000 years ago, prove that there has settlement in Klang since the iron and bronze age. Documents referring to this, from the Majapahit days, have also been found.
For centuries, until today the town has been the residence of His Highness Sultan of Selangor Darul Ehsan. The Selangor Darul Ehsan Sultanate started when the Sultan Sallehudin (Raja Lumu), who was the first Sultan of Selangor Darul Ehsan, set up the Malay Government 1643.
Klang river traverse itself from the Titiwangsa Range down to the heart of Kuala Lumpur city center and passing through the most populated part of Klang Valley. Here it is seen slowly reaching its downstream passing Klang town amidst the glittering light decorating both sides of the bridge. Building on the right is the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) building with their abbreviation sitting at the top of the structure.

A little bit more about Klang town
2 June 2005, The Star Newspaper (Malaysia) – Boom town,Klang has come a long way since its early days as a merchants’ paradise. Today, it is still a bustling town, but the direction the royal town is …….
A part form being a royal town, Klang has always been a special and privileged place for Selangor as it has served as state capital from 1880 to 1977 before being replaced with Kuala Lumpur and later Shah Alam.
The early settlers, mostly Bugis, Javanese and Minangkabau origin, arrived in droves and lived in settlements along the Klang River. ….. Most of the early settlers were farmers, boatmen and fishermen. They sold their produce to traders from other parts of Malaya then and to merchants who pass through the Straits of Malacca.

Hi Erik from Spintec, Yes, Malaysia is a very nice and peaceful country full of historical heritage for everyone to visit. Later we will update the website with more info on places to visit.
3 June 2005 - The Star Newspaper (Malaysia) - Port getting bigger, Port Klang has come a long way since the early days when it was still known as Port Sweetenham. The port, which used to be made up of two or three streets such as Camp Road and Watson Road and which housed four or five berths, has progressed steadily over the past 50 years. The old port, now known as South Port, was a popular destination of cargo and passenger vessels. It has since become Malaysia's premier port with its boundaries expanded to include North Port and West Port. The combination of all three ports has made Port Klang world class as it has also changed with the times.

There are some updates on the Electric On-Road Technical Rules on Motor 4.3.2
BRUSHED MOTORS
Specifications: ‘05’ sized displacements..
Can diameter to be a maximum of 36.02mm
Can length to be maximum of 53mm measured from the mounting face of the motor to the furthest point not including solder, tabs or lead wires.
Shaft diameter is .125 inch. Production Tolerances allowed. Ceramic magnets only (cobalt and rare earth magnets specifically not allowed).
Current is supplied to the armature by two (2) brushes.
Armature - the rotor is to have three (3) poles with windings. Stack length without epoxy - minimum 21mm and maximum 28.8mm. Only copper wire is to be used for the winding.
No split rotor is allowed. The laminations have to be one after the other without anything between. The thickness of the stack plates is 0.35mm + 0.05mm, a maximum of sixty three (63) laminations to be used. The minimum stack thickness is 3.5mm.
A minimum of 5,000 units must be available at the time of approval. A minimum of three hundred (300) motors must have been sold to at least three (3) distributors or hobby shops or OEM ’s at the time of submittal.
The manufacturer has to provide an address of a hobby shop or the like, that any driver who wishes to obtain these motors at the time of approval can do so.
Approved motors may be modified by re-winding, balancing, truing of commutators, epoxying, ball bearings, brushes and custom brush systems only.
No hybrid (mixing of parts from approved motors) allowed.

The actual track layout will be available 2 Months prior to the event. Please take note that there will be a 60% change to the Track layout configuration at the start of the event.
There will also be new updates to the IFMAR Technical Rules, we will update everyone.

2.6 PRACTICE
2.6.1 There will be one day of practice (T-time, controlled practice) for each class. The track will not be available prior to commencement of each event.
2.6.2 Track layout must be at least 60% new in layout/design at the start of the event.
2.6.3 Practice will be organised using the „T-Time " format.. Under these arrangements the following parameters will be used:
a. Each segment will be restricted to 10 minutes (1/12) and 7 minutes (ISTC).
b. Drivers only to be allowed to sign up for „T-Time " practice..
c .A maximum of 15 cars to be allowed on the track during any one segment.
d. Drivers will only be allowed one frequency per segment.
e. The first "T-Time" practice will be allocated by the organisers..
2.6.4 All the IFMAR Technical Rules apply during Controlled Practice, including the use of batteries and motors from the IFMAR Approved List which have been checked (and marked where necessary) by Technical Inspection.

IFMAR TECHNICAL RULES - 4.3 MOTORS

General definition of a Brushless Motor:
a) Sensored or sensorless motors are allowed.
b) The motor has to be rebuildable. Ball bearings are allowed.
c) If the motor is sensored:
- It must use a six position JST ZH connector model number ZHR-6 or equivalent connector with 6 JST part number SZH-002T-P0.5 26-28 awg contacts or equivalent.
Wire sequence must be as follows:
Pin #1 - Black wire ground potential
Pin #2 - orange wire phase C
Pin #3 - white wire phase B
Pin #4 - green wire phase A
Pin #5 - blue wire temp control, 10 k Thermistor referenced to ground potential
Pin #6 - red wire + 5.0 volts d.c. +/- 10%.

The laminations have to be one after the other without anything in between. The thickness of the stack plates is 0.35 +/- 0.05mm. All laminations must be of the same material.

Only three slot (phase) “Y” wound stators are permitted. No delta wound stators allowed. Only circular (round) pure copper wire permitted. No turn limit.
Rotor:
Shaft diameter must be 0.125 inches (3.175mm). Only one piece, two pole bonded Neodymium or Ferrite magnetic rotors are permitted. Magnet minimum length 23.00mm, maximum 27.00mm. Magnet minimum diameter 12.00mm, maximum 5.50mm.
e) All motors must have the original manufacturer’s logo or name moulded into the end bell.
f) A minimum of two thousand (2000) brushless motors must be available at the time of approval. A minimum of three hundred (300) brushless motors must have been sold to at least three (3) distributors or hobby shops or OEM’s at the time of submittal. The manufacturer has to provide an address of a hobby shop or the like, that any driver who wishes to obtain these motors at the time of the approval can do so.
