They were fun cars to drive but the electric ones never caught on as well as the nitros because of power. This was before brushless and LiPo though. Now with these new technologies it would be nice to see the large scale on-road cars make a comeback. Personally I'd prefer it came from Tamiya bit Traxxas could do it nicely too.

Stay on track.
Lets not loose track of the topic here. There have been plenty of threads about random formats and how they could be implemented into racing. The point here though is really about a few key words.

That'll just be Tamiya all over again when they developed the TA01 chassis from the mantaray, which was a good spec buggy.

Oh ok...I read it as Traxxas make an on-road large scale car and suggests a Slash format. Honestly it would take a complete reworking of the Slash to make it an on-road car. They would be better off making a whole new on-road car that incorporates some Slash parts for carry over like the suspension arms and gearbox...just about everything else would need to be changed.

I'd have to agree. A realistic on-road car from Traxxas would make for a really fun spec class, just like Slash does! Maybe bring out a Ken Block Fiesta and a Pastrana STI. That would fit in with their current line up pretty good and would make tons of people interested, since Block's Gymkhana is one of the biggest videos ever on the net. I guess all we can do is sit here and hope Traxxas sees this thread, which might get the gears turning for their product developers.

Lol I think we already have enough ginormous jumps like that in 1/8th off road already. Some amature tracks I have seen makes me wonder if it is a race course or rc X games.
And why just Traxxas? Tamiya has been making scale RC since the dawn of RC.

Were you in California on Tuesday night?!? We were just talking about this very thing at our local track. The Slash/SC Truck onroad equivalent. Funny.
I'm remembering the AE RC-10DS...onroad version of the RC-10 buggy. It never caught on though.
