Not sure what you mean by checking the "Motor Temperature Cut"

I was able to hold/touch the motor and besides we checked the temp from every angle and it never read more than 100deg??

In the programming parameters there is a menu called "Protection" and a sub menu called "Motor Temperature Cut", this function cuts the ESC when the motor reaches the choosen temperature.
Are you talking 100º C or F? If your saying Celsius and reading outside the can, that is way too much for almost any motor on the market, for sure it means almost 130ºC inside the motor and way over melting point.

It was 100degF I was able to touch the motor it was barely hot. I will look into the Motor Temperature Cut setting as this seems to be the culprit since the motor was well within operating temps.

Yeah, that looks really low temp. Check the programming and comeback for feedback.

I'm confused, I just hooked up the programmer and checked the temp cutoff settings and the esc was set to 220f and the motor was at 160f. I'm guessing that the sensor board is bad on the motor.

Is this new firmware only recommended for boosted use or is there a benefit in it for non boosted use? I just ordered my Viper link so I am running version A19 and will update to the current version.

As i said before the ESC reads inside the motor and that could lead to some huge diferences such as 80ºF around 30ºC, if you read that on the can and it could be just seconds after the switch off, it's easy to the ESC have read it 220ºF inside the motor.

It's a huge diference specially in boosted and pay attention that the new firmware is not yet ROAR approved for non timing.

I didn't see an answer to this specific question... although we have discussed it before.

The VTX10 speedo is not a 1S lipo compatible speed control. However, most non-1S compatible ESCs can be used with a rec pack or booster, by disabling the low voltage cutoff... or by leaving the ESC turned off(in the case where the LV cutoff cannot be turned off).

Obviously the VTX10 is not 1S compatible. And, from my readings in the instruction manual, it appears that the LV cutoff only goes down to ~4.2 volts? And it doesn't appear that it can be disabled altogether.

So.... the question is.... with a rec pack or booster, can the VTX10 be run with a 1S lipo with the ESC turned off(like people were doing with the Tekin RS before hte updated firmware came out)?

the viper speed controls cannot be ran with rx packs. it doesn't like them becuase of the micro proccessor in the on/off switch.

but running a booster, the esc has to be able to go down to 3.2v or below on the esc's cut-off and you have to remove the low voltage cutoff on the booster like the novak one in order for it to work as the speedo turns itself on once the switch on the booster is turned on because of the micro proccessor.
I have been running one of the origional prototypes of the vtrax1 esc from the first batch that had an internal booster issue and have put one of the novak boosters on it and have ran it for about a year now and this is what i have come up with in that time. Currently i am still using that one and i am also running the newest version of prototypes and so far it has been flawless . so it shouldnt be too much longer before the vtx1 is in production . but dont quote me on that!
