Wondering if the Lightweight Outdrives for Gen II Transmission from BK2 will fit the CR. Or will the new XXX4 plastic outdrives work??
Where are you guys getting your CRs from??

I have not seen one for sale yet. I have heard as early as Monday the 12th but nothing offical. The Gen II outdrives will not work. They went back to the Gen 1 tranny which will use the XX4 oudrives. They did revise the outdrives for an inproved diff assy so I am not certain those will work with all the new diff parts but you could build a Gen 1 diff and use it in the car. The new CR diff is supposed to last forever from what the team guys are telling people.

Your better off using the outdrives that come with the car. The diff is designed so instead of the rings slipping(or rubbing) on the balls, the rings slip on the outdrives. That way the rings and balls last alot longer and the diff stays super smooth.

You can use the plastic outdrives from the xxx4. But you will have to use some of the xxx4 hardware. ie diff screw, belvelle washers and diff rings.

There's more to the steel vs. plastic outdrive debate than just the weight involved. I really don't think you will see any lap time difference, even in stock or 19T, going to plastic outdrives in order to save rotating weight.
However, the friction each surface provides on the dogbone pins, as well as the flywheel effect (especially of the heavier steel outdrives) can make a difference as far as how the car drives.

Plastic outdrives dont wear and eventually bind the suspension.
The two materials (outdrive+dogbone pin)work well together and dont req lubrication..Weight saving is added bonus!..
