your choice but i would use the Big Jim's Alignment tool or slide a brush through the hood (while its off the can) and use it to the align the hoods.

Hi everyone,
Have been reading this thread from the beginning, I have a Trinity Monster Stock Pro installed in my losi xxx-s. Have trued the comm, aligned the hood, shimmed the armature, and everything else I could find here and at Hobbytalk forum too. Just can't seem to find the correct gearing for it. The comm always ends up with a dark colored band where the brushes touch the comm. Have tried ratios from 6.75 all to way to 5.9
Using a SX12W with a limit set on the Amps. The straight of the track is only about 100ft
What's the best ratio to use?
Thanks.

Depending on how short and tight your track is it might have still been overgeared with a 7.0. What are you using for a brush/ spring combo?

at the min my brush and spring combo is what the motor came with, i dont now if you know the track but it is the coastal model car club in ipswich (uk)

Alright, that track definitely has more flow than I thought from your description. I would first get rid of that stock brush spring combo and use an F brush with purple spring on the positive, and red on the negative. By the looks of the track, as long as your car is decent you should be able to run around a 6.5 ratio, which is what you were running.
