Definitely go with the CO27 for racing at RC Tech track in Daly City. Will be killer in the infield.

yes it can align both standup and laydown, but mine is tight on the hoods and could possible pinch in the sides. this occurs even when the hood is perfectly aligned.

your choice but i would use the Big Jim's Alignment tool or slide a brush through the hood (while its off the can) and use it to the align the hoods.

Hi everyone,

Have been reading this thread from the beginning, I have a Trinity Monster Stock Pro installed in my losi xxx-s. Have trued the comm, aligned the hood, shimmed the armature, and everything else I could find here and at Hobbytalk forum too. Just can't seem to find the correct gearing for it. The comm always ends up with a dark colored band where the brushes touch the comm. Have tried ratios from 6.75 all to way to 5.9

Using a SX12W with a limit set on the Amps. The straight of the track is only about 100ft

What's the best ratio to use?

Thanks.

A ratio of 6.75 to 5.9 is most likely way too low for your track. At my local track we are gearing Monsters around a 7.40 with a 80 foot straight.

WHen the CO27's first hit the tracks, people had to gear up 2-3 teeth on the pinion, even 4 teeth! So start low and work ur way up, Monsters do got alittle more rpm compared to a co27.

My local track is 80x50 asphalt and I'm gearing it at a 6.8 to 7.0, which is a 22 or 23 tooth pinion on the corally with a 78 tooth spur.

Depending on how short and tight your track is it might have still been overgeared with a 7.0. What are you using for a brush/ spring combo?

Alright, that track definitely has more flow than I thought from your description. I would first get rid of that stock brush spring combo and use an F brush with purple spring on the positive, and red on the negative. By the looks of the track, as long as your car is decent you should be able to run around a 6.5 ratio, which is what you were running.
