I've just got a 7X2 armature (big comm) and I put it in a Ti (2 magnets) can. (Should I put it in a KR can?)

Could you suggest which brush/springs/timing should I use?
Any recommendation on gear ratio? (My car is 415 and the track's straight is about 15 metres)

Thanks.

P.S. -- The armature is so shining and precise making.

You can use it in a Ti can, but you should use laydown brush hoods....

Timing is usually 12-16 degrees, depending on the variables (driver, track, car, etc)...

For springs, I usually use trinity purple/purple or an equilvent...

Brushes, 766 work good.....

As for gearing, can't help much there, have never been good with it.....I am sure one of the other guys can help you out though....

As far as gearing, if you're running a big comm in a 2 mag can, time it around 12-14 degrees and if it's a somewhat tight layout start at about 9.0 or so and adjust from there. One thing I've also found when running 766's on low turn motors is that taking the sharp edges off the brushes seems to help with burning of the comm quite a bit. Don't take too much off, just enough to take the sharp edge off with a nail file.

Thanks EddieO and Jon.

How about the gearing for 4 magnets can?
Maybe try 9.2 for tight track?

I never had any luck running big comms in the standard KR 4 mag can. That's why I only run them in 2 mag cans. I always burned them up so I'm not too sure how to gear them properly.

Kr mods should be geared like they are two winds lower than they are.....aka, a 10 turn should be geared like an 8 turn.....

Mr Jolly, sorry I missed yours....

Singles tend to have more punch since they are lighter because they have less wire...they will lack some top end though because of the extra resistance.

A double is more packed with wire, so it will spool up slower, thus less punch, but it will have a better top end because it has less resistance because of the additional circular mills of copper. Their powerband typically will be more smooth.....

A triple and a quad just expand on this....smoother power bands, less punch, and more top end.

The more packed the arm, the also more efficient it should be in theory....

Typically, you will use a single or a double in touring car......depending on the track. Chris Tosolini tends to always run singles, as he loves the punch and it fits his driving style. The triples and quads are pretty much only used in offroad anymore.....except, you did see them a lot in the 12 turn limit euro classes. In 12th scale, doubles are usually the most popular wind, but I have seen people run singles or triples....just depends.

Thanks for that insight

Next up `bearings in 27t stocks`
Looks quite sure that 2 race series are doing it this way so
Q) will the stocks be dearer to have bearings installed??

If not cos no polishing, lining up the busings, then i might take the initiative in the market & have them installed

Cos there is no one else doing this!! your thoughts

I could do it easy.....and I do stock the bearings...

Motors would cost a little more though this way, as the cost of the bearing would have to be factored in, not to mention the labor to pull them out and such....it could be close though, just depends....

I have a new tool we are selling that does this too, you should probably order some!
