Black can? Odd.

Got 2 variants afaik: Dyna Run Super Touring which is a 13x2 modified motor. Dyna Run Stock Racing which is a 27x1 (supposedly).

hths.

Hi Alvin, Mr Mit.
Just wondering, how do you know it;s 13x2? Did you read or unwind it to count or estimate?

thank you

Kasey: I found the info from the www.tamiya.nl website, I don't seem to be able to find it again. A quick web search showed this:

http://home1.stofanet.dk/franks_mrc_...e/TAMotor.html
http://www.tamiya.nl/tamtam/regels/2002nk_treg.html (First colum, under 4WD Super Sport)
http://users.pandora.be/tamiya.belgi...atio's.htm

Also, the setting sheets for the various tamiya vehicles at the tamiya netherlands site also put it at 13x2, if I am not mistaken.

imataquito: Didja gear it properly? I tried a DRST on a tb-evo, it is a very very torque-ky (sp!) motor.

That's right , it's a 13x2. Mel and i cut one out to count back in the year 2000, Sembawang days ...... The performance is much milder compare to other brands. We didn't expected it to be 13turn !!! But that's true.

Rotor lamination, wind style - pattern wound, solder blazing, actual coil thickness make the difference on the armature part.
Magnet strength and can design make the other half difference.

End bell(dammmper system) also contributes.

Brush and comm cut also.

SSOOO 13x2 means alot if the manufacture are different. The only way to tell is to put is on a motor DYNO - watts, max effc, torque ...... are so of the data you can use to determine which is better.

i'd like to ask, how come the motors available nowadays are shorter in length than the tamiya 540 ones? doesn't that make it weaker?

Kasey: Wah liao, next time you guys gonna do something like that, give to me! My 11x2 you saw that day, KO'd in the 3rd heat so I went back to my trusty Trinity speedgem 14x2.

Huaze: If you are comparing the motors which come in the kits, remember that comparing those to say a Type T, the type T's brushes can be seen and changed, whereas the Mabuchi's brushes are closed up inside, hence it seems longer?

imataquito: Haven't seen you in the forums for so long! How is your tamiya chassis so far? What about the motor timing? The stock dynarun timing is like 1mm? Very little. Maybe you can try upping it a bit more? What about the brushes? Have you ever tried it with dual shunt brushes? hehehe
