Thanks, I let Paul know after I received it, and I believe he's sent me an s-high rotor. Just takes a while to get to Australia!!
Awesome thanks for that. I'm still new to mod, brushless mod anyway. All the esc turbo and boost is confusing to me.
While I've got you, what would you start rollout for 1/12th mod? 3.5T, I'll probably run it initially in blinky (1S 3.1), it'll be at the same track.
Cheers,
Iain

Thanks Schwarta,
I chatted with Paul about this. He said the motor should have come with the M-HIGH, not the M-MID as it seems you have received.
For your track, he thinks the Mid might not be so bad. He said the bottom will feel more like a 5.5 but the top will be good like a 4.5. He also said the timing is fine where it is and that he would actually try it like it is to start.
On the XR10 from the initial settings he suggested the following:
10-15 Boost Timing
20-30 Turbo Timing (to adjust power at top end)
Turbo Timing Activation should be at full throttle
7.5 FDR
Drag Brake is personal preference, but make sure your Initial Brake is ≥ Drag Brake by at least 1.
Punch should be around 6 or 7
Be sure to disable any voltage or heat cutoffs
If it gets hot, drop the Turbo Increase Rate from 12% every .1 sec to 6%
Paul actually departs for ROAR Paved Nats today but said he'd be happy to help if you have any further questions related to any of the above. Just shoot me a PM.

Also, I prefer the "brake control" set to "traditional" with that ESC. This is definitely a personal preference but give it a try if you have time.

Below is Paul Worsley's response to my email. Hope this helps.
Hello Robbie,
I can explain the situation.
When I first received motor samples to approve in July 2015, the samples had rotors marked as S-MID.
But there were no Rotor Part Numbers or Manufacturer name shown, so they could not be accepted.
In June 2016, David Spashett finally got these details sorted.
I received pictures of the rotors identified correctly and accepted the approval based on the pictures.
David stated that all Spec. motors that he would be bringing into UK would have the MOV1315 rotor fitted.
David stated there was no need to add any optional rotors to the list.
So, I assume that David does not stock any optional rotors.
Best regards,
Paul.

That all sounds pretty reasonable for a big track running Mod TC. I'll add that although drag brake is something you'll want to play with most people I see are running 15-18%. Sometimes a bit more or less so don't think you're doing it wrong if it's not in that range.

Thanks for finding out the info much appreciated. It seems strange considering the Mid is recommended for 1/12 and Zen racing are primarily a 1/12 distributor. We don't race on the black carpet so from your comments I struggle to see why the High rotor is the only one to choose. Hmmmm

Any ideas on gearing for an M Code 21.5 in a touring car? As a guide I am running FDR of 2.78 with a Fantom FR-1 set at 48 degrees actual timing in an Awesomatix A800. In my A700 I run a FDR of 2.85 using either the FR-1 or a Trinity 24K 21.5 with actual timing of 46 degrees. (Timing is as per my motorlyzer). Motors come off around 60c after a run I have been running my 13.5 in the A800 at a FDR of 4 but the motor was coming off at around 40c without a fan.

Sounds like your track is pretty big. I'm not really familiar with the Fantom or the 24K, and I've only run the 21.5 in TC once on an 80x36' carpet track last October, so my experience with it is limited. I would suggest starting around the same gear in practice and keep an eye on temps. Check it every 2-3 minutes just to be safe.
I've never felt like the M-Code needs to run hot to make good power but 40c sounds really cold for your 13.5. Mine would typically run about 75-80c in the summer months geared at 4.3 with 50* actual timing on a 120x60' parking lot track with a fan.
I would welcome any input from any of our guys that have more experience with the 21.5, but either way I hope this helps

what timing are those motors at?
in 17.5 I found the motiv similar to the 24k in performance.
my 24k had more power at the start with fading at the end, with a friends motiv running more consistent throughout the run and more power at the end - that's dependent on timing and gearing of course.
For 21.5 I liked the motiv around 52* on the can, I'd gear it up. 40c is too cold for it to be going fast. No 21.5 24k to compare with at the time.
