Cool Loose Batteries

I was at the track today and some of the racers with the BMI chassis had
battery pack coming loose and coming out of the cars. Is this a new problem?

I've heard about the issue of batteries sliding and ruining drive shafts, but I've also heard about batteries shorting out...

That can be a problem. Happened to my Frineds X-Ray where he hit the wall and the battery pack came out of the holder and touched the other battery pack. Yokomo cars I have seen that with and I think it was either a IRS or Warpspeed TC3 I saw the battery go flying out of the car and disconnect from the connector and slide up against he wall

if you have your battery strap on properly there is no problem.i had my car get hit 8 times in 1 corner and my batteries stayed in place.wrong place, wrong time

as for shorting out packs,i cant see how.it runs a stick pack not a saddle.there is nothing there to short the battery out.unless it was shorted out on the driveshaft which would be from not strapping the battery correctly

ProTC3:

Hi,

anytime. this setup ended up 3rd inthe A main today. les than.003 of a sec from the Nats winner.

Let me know when the battery strap comes out. I'll need a blue one.

Batteries popping out:

I have run the B.M.I. chassis for 3 weekends of hard warmups runs for Cleveland. I never had a battery pop out or move in any way. I use the graphite TC3 hold down brace. If you are having this problem look into taping your packs in I am about to make this mod to my chassis just for the ease of installation (old 1/12th scaler). on my next B.M.I. chassis I order. (after Cleveland). as for shorting out. I run my solder tabs to the outside of my chassis so there is no chance of this.

Thanks

I saw the chassis over the weekend. Truly a spectacular piece of work. It looks like it has a lot of potential. I will enjoy trying to bump John (on the scoreboard or the end of the straight heh) when he's testing the new setup. Looking forward to seeing the entire package in action.

I am very interested in a chassis and the only thing I am waiting on is the anodized parts. I know there is a ton of stuff being worked on an talked about, but is there a time frame as to when this may be done or is it not going to happen? I can't wait to get this chassis on my car. This question is for the guys running on carpet. The chassis I am going to purchase is only going to be ran on carpet, is the 2mm upper deck good enough or should I go with the 3mm? Thanks in advance.

Was it not mentioned somewhere in this thread that the colored carbon graphite has more flex than the black? Therefore if you get the black one it would work just fine with the 2mm. I would think, but only those that have used them would know. I am waiting for mine to arrive to try out on carpet.

Personally I have had both the colored and the black chassis in my hands and tried twisting them both in several directions. If, and I stress IF the color has a little less rigidity (from a technical aspect I believe it is supposed to) than the black it is pretty minor. I doubt that any weekend warriors would notice a difference. A high end pro may be able to detect the subtle difference IMO .
