Tamiya TRF415

Actually my friend just started running his MS on our "high speed" carpet track layout and it's very nice. I run my regular 415. I drove his car and it felt pretty good. I would guess though... maybe the MS would not be the "choice" of car for a big race such as the Snowbirds or Cleveland. But for club racing.. I see nothing wrong with it.

I just ran my TRF415 MS today for the first time, and I did worse than I ever have. I always qualify in the top three of the A-Main with my XXX-S, but with the 415 I was in the B-Main. The car was an absolute chore to handle, very darty and inconsistant. Does anyone have a FOAM tire setup for carpet. I tryed the one posted on page 217 with the 70wt. and purple/yellow springs, but does anyone have some more setups, like Charlie Suangka's from the Novak Race? I would really like to give this car a try, but the XXX-S just seams like a lot smoother car. Any help would be appreciated. I was using 3mm droop front and rear and both one-ways.

My friend was using a direct pulley with a Yokomo diff up front on his MS. I believe his springs were AE Yellow front and Purple rear. Losi 37.5wt oil front and 30wt rear. 2 hole pistons. (he used this oil to try and get the same feel and rebound as his TC3 car's shocks felt with AE70wt front and 50wt rear. No swaybars. Shocks one in on tower f/r. 4degree spindles with .7mm shim up front block. 0 degree rear hubs with uhh I can't remember with suspension blocks.. but he ended up with 0.5 rear toe. I can't remember his droop or camber link spacers. But I thought his rear camber link was on the center hole on the hub. His wheelbase was the same as mine.. but I didn't look at the spacers either. This was 19t class. He said his car felt much more consistant than his TC3.

Thanks a lot KilRuf. Sounds like I am a little heavy on the oil, and I will try it without the one-ways. Is that .7mm under the front block in front of the arms? On the Losi's, we always had the front of the arms angled down, so on these, you must use kick-up on the front?

No maintenance was done because of the wet track, a slow trick chicane was put in the back right short chute, and we ran it reverse (clockwise). Kind of a fun day, just killing tires and burning brushes. DJ busted out a small video camera and first mounted it in a plane and flew around for a "bird's eye" view and later put in his car. In-car camera video is really cool and would be sweet to have at future race events. Imagine WRC sped up three times
Neil, sorry about your luck...It was nice speaking with you. Next time, don't hit stuff foo!

My friend always likes to run alittle kickup. I don't usually run kickup. Mostly personnal preferrence to driving style. It took me a couple laps with his car to get used to it. But after that it was easy to drive. My car setup was a tad more aggressive.

F.A.O. TRYHARD
Hi Ed,
Do you keep all of the setups you had on your site?
There is a link in racechat that is dead, might come in handy.
Cheers.
