I agree it is no problem, I drive pancar on asphalt.
Last year I visited the WC 1/12 as a spectator and after some houres I got a splitting headache that lasted a few days. I prefer to drive outside.

If mod is to fast just keep driving the class your comforteble in.
I like driving mod and find it a pitty I waited so long to drive mod,
The first times it is a handfull but you get us to it.
Now my 10year old son started to drive a mod car to practise.
17.5 is just boring him.

I race at a carpet track and our top class for sedan is 13.5 with 17.5 geared towards sportsman... The fast guys from sportsman get moved up to 13.5 at the end of the season... I guess it's a bit of a compromise but having 13.5 helps move some guys along to at least run mod...
I'm not even sure if the new modern mod is too fast because mod is about making choices on what motor you can handle. Mod seems to be popular in Europe and Asia so I think it has more to do with the structure of racing in the U.S.
