We still don't have any trouble running 1/12 or WGT and all oval classes on asphalt.

BTW, I just got 2nd in my ROAR Regionals (4) on asphalt in WGT and I ran my carpet setup and one set of WGT spec tires all weekend.

I ran 1/12 on asphalt back in 2006-2007 in San Antonio, good times. It was nice not being trapped in a room with everyone saucing their tires.

I agree it is no problem, I drive pancar on asphalt.

Last year I visited the WC 1/12 as a spectator and after some houres I got a splitting headache that lasted a few days. I prefer to drive outside.

It's too bad modern modified is so fast. Even with nearly unlimited access to a track our racers lose interest.

If mod is to fast just keep driving the class your comforteble in.
I like driving mod and find it a pitty I waited so long to drive mod,
The first times it is a handfull but you get us to it.
Now my 10year old son started to drive a mod car to practise.
17.5 is just boring him.

I race at a carpet track and our top class for sedan is 13.5 with 17.5 geared towards sportsman... The fast guys from sportsman get moved up to 13.5 at the end of the season... I guess it's a bit of a compromise but having 13.5 helps move some guys along to at least run mod...

I'm not even sure if the new modern mod is too fast because mod is about making choices on what motor you can handle. Mod seems to be popular in Europe and Asia so I think it has more to do with the structure of racing in the U.S.

This looks a whole lot like 13.5 blinky/Superstock does now, in regards to outright speed....

Yes. It would be interesting to know how many entries there were for modified 1/12 that year and the mod to stock ratio.

There's more track space taken up by the boards than the racing line.

Nice, simple. Its so far beyond "what it was" at this point anyway.

Touring cars ran on it as well, not 1/12th specific. Plenty wide enough to race on.
