Default antenna ?

i accidently broke the wire on my rustler when i bought it. about 4-5 inches. the range is still pretty good. im going to the traxxas 2.4 when i get my income tax. but i added about 5-6 inches of like 14ga. wire. will that work?

Won't you be replacing the rcvr too? It will have a new antenna unless you have a 2.4 in there now. If you're going from AM to 2.4 the 2.4 is so short, you really need to get the rcvr box/antenna for the 2.4 as well.

I bought a traxxas link 2.4 with rcvr on eBay for $46 shipped. Its been a nice radio, I've added 2 more rcvrs and it does a great job. I get a rcvr box and antenna tube for each one so the antenna gets setup and protected correctly.

The radio takes some getting used to since it doesn't have a screen, but the menu is straight forward and it works. Just about to get another rcvr for mine.

or for $3 he could replace the antenna on his current rx with futaba's 27mhz antenna wire.

But hell, who's counting right?

There's definitely nothing wrong with the Traxxas 2.4 rx/tx. Like Duster said, the menu is a little odd, but it's easy enough to learn and it does exactly what is needed. If you don't want to try to memorize the blinking light sequences, there is a little guide folded up that sits in the battery area of the remote. And I've seen the rx's go for as low as $35 before. I run them in all my rides, and have never had a problem. The only downside is the steering trim, you have to set the knob again when you change models. But that's where it shines sorta, no need to change model numbers on the radio, just turn on tx, then rx and it knows what car you're driving and adjusts its settings accordingly.

Personally I hate the way the Spectrum radios have damn near a full turn of steering either way. I love how the Traxxas radio is only about 1/3 a turn either way.

Make sure you get the one that says Link - thats def the one to get. Traxxas made two, the older is the non - link one and it may be cheaper, but it does far less and is not the one to get. You want the 2.4 Trx Link radio.
