Default fantom fr .12

hello,
i just purchased an fantom fr .12 engine for my losi xxxnt.
was just wanting to know what the better GLOW PUG for that engine.
i took the one out that came with it but it does not say anything or have any numbers on it.i compared it to a o.s.#8 but looks to be a little longer than a 8.i have always used to use cvr's in my truck but decided to go with a little more kick!!
so any info you might have for me leave a note.

thx,
matt

is it the one with the turbo head? if so then any turbo plug for 1/10th off-road will be fine.

Use McCoy MC59 plugs, they're inexpensive, the correct heat range and Fantom even recommends using them if you can't find Fantom plugs. Another option is the OS A3 plug, it's the same heat range as the MC59.

That's funny because the FR12/slide carb non-ps I have uses a standard plug like the MC59. And since morris took his out to compare it to an OS #8 and the Fantom plug is a little longer then you have to assume that it's a standard.

Forgot to mention that the Fantom plug I have is a thread longer than the #8.

Morris, a #8 is too cold to use in the .12, you a much better off with a MC59 and 20% nitro. Mine runs all day at 235-250 degrees and has a nice power range.

then it must be an older engine because the fr 12 '05 is a turbo head.

i did some investigating and came to coclusion that fantom has the fr.12 with rear exzaust.i beleive this is the turbo model.mine is the staright up normal engine.so im thinking that the mc-59 or a a3 should work fine.

thx again,
matt

Well Morris it should be easy to see the difference. A turbo plug is tapered at the end by the filament and a standard plug is straight and threaded all the way down.

The 05 FR12 could be either Side Exhaust or Rear Exhaust and the stock head button is a turbo for both. Fantom offers an optional standard plug button for extra cost.

However, it sounds like you have an older engine as I do which doesn't use a head button and does use a standard plug.
