Hey all,

I am currently on TT01 chassis and Tamiya Super stock motor, when I accelerate, there is some grinding sound coming from the rear wheels, but upon stripping them and re-greasing them doesn't seems to help much, anyone knows what's wrong? I thought it was like some gears within has worned out causing the sounds... but I had this for like at the most 2 months?any idea anyone?

Are you using the stock spur gear? If so are you using the stock pinion as well? It could be gear mesh. Tamiya uses a metric sized spur/pinion. Other things to check are loose cvd pins (if you are running cvd), bent dog bones, bad gear mesh. Take the dog bones out and see if it still makes the noise. Could be lots of things.

Although you could be grinding away your spur gear, or rear gearbox, or dogbones, or it's the motor.

Hell, have you left a screw floating around in the rear diff cover? I saw that happen on a TT-01 once...

did you use the correct screws mounting the motor to the bulkhead?

this question might be a diff subject but wads the difference between taping the tires to proper drift tires

the grinding only happens when i accelerate
it'll stop when it starts maintaining the speed.

why don't you go an drop an oil to both side of the motor bushings and check if that works or not!
same think happened to me before if that is the problem you have to replace bushes with the new ones...

i don think its the bushing. i tried my other motor TMAX ST 23T too it had the same problem and its quite new.

Try inspecting the spur/pinion gears. Do they look even, and new? or are they worn out, and "Eaten away"?

Also inspect the differential gears. Do they look alright? or are they dirty.

Dust/Dirt can wear out the plastic gears in a jiffy! so inspect the gears. I noticed that bad gears would grind on acceleration, and be silent off throttle.

Are you still using the plastic drive shaft? Try the aluminum drive shaft. If you are still using the plastic drive shaft with any other motor than the silver can, this could be where your noise is coming from. With the plastic drive shaft, it will tend to "bow" out a slap your chassis or motor when reaching certain speeds or rpm. With the silver can motor, it usually does not exceed the rpm's that the plastic drive shaft can handle.

Thanks for all your replies! Appreciate it! Yes, I am on aluminium shaft, this TT01 of mine is barely 2 months old from new, but yes, I did meddle with the spur and pinion, and I meant play around with the gearing and thats about it. Car still move fast but its just that irritating sound that makes me feel like something is going to break sooner or later, so I am getting some info from people have this problem before so I could do some pre-emptive checks or any preventive measures before something breaks and damage other parts as well!

Any one can point out where the bush is? And I don't mean George Bush...hehe. I am new to this RC thingy. or mesh or whatever you guys have pointed out.
