Thanks for the info mangoman. I think I'm going to go for one. Even if finding parts is a challenge, the hunt can be part of the fun. I don't race competitively now anyway so I shouldn't eat up too many parts anyway.

BTW if you are going to race and you are going mod you will be better off with a belt drive car.

if you really are a good driver the Pro 4 will be fast in 19T but if you are a mediocre driver you would be better off going with the cyclone.

on the bevel gear topic. i run a pro 4 with a GTB and 13..5 sinntered rotor and run my final drive at around 4.88 and do not have a problem. as for racing mod i would however tend to go for a belt drive.

on the topic of availability if it is not already common knowledge, the hot bodies D4 runs the exact gear set. couple of me mates ave em and run 5.5 mod motors and if anyone was gunna brake em rov would and he has had no dramas with the bevels

my pro 4, running a 4.5 brushless and 4800 lipo( and everyone I race against is using the same set up).....

is just as fast as the guys using the 007 x rays.......

in fact, it is proving to be more maintenance free than any of the belt cars...once I learned the secrets of the diffs, it's been smooth sailing...the car is exremely easy to drive smooth....stays tweak free, and never breaks......

fastharry- Please share your diff secrets. You can PM me if you wish. I'm definitely getting a Pro 4, just trying to hunt one down. So if any of you have one for sale let me know.....
Thanks

I only have one car.....I think my friend wants to sell his rolling chassis, I will check it for you...

when you get the car, i will tell you how I set the car up so diffs are no problem......but, I do run diffs front and back...so a solid axle may make a difference as far as gear breakage......

trying to use differential to replace the spool(take out the 3/32 ball and lock up), it seems very durable for the gear and less maintenance.

thanks

what kind of motor are you going to use?...and what will you be doing with the car....

also, see if you can pick up the HARA edition....the HARA top deck is nice, no tweaking from accidents( and WAY easier to take apart)...also, the HARA motor mount is sweet....

fastharry- I have some 19T motors/various escs and a novak SS5800 brushless. I'll probably start out with one of these. I plan on using it for parking lot racing with friends. Nothing real organized though. Definitely going for the Hara edition if I can find one.

Did anyone try instead of the HPI bevel gears the Kyosho LA200 for TF-5 &
ZX-5? It seems that fits perfect and looks more durable .
