Default thinking the motors shot!

this past weekend at our club race my motor cut off in the main and i could never get it started again. i can start it now but ONLY if i hit the trigger and givew it throttle, as soon as i let go and it idles, it cuts off. any ideas of what might be wrong? the compression is pretty bad also but wasnt bad at all before the race i went to. the motor only has 3 gallons through it and hasnt run over 240 EVER!

Have you changed out the glow plug. I would check that first.

Think you should sell it. I'll take it off your hands for cheap
Seriously sounds like a tuning issue though..if you said it dies when it gets hot I would think otherwise. Usually that's a compression issue. Idle up and see where you get. Also you might have to fumble with the low end.

check plug, replace if bad , turn your idle up to get it running and retune the engine .

If it still has some commpresstion? tear it down, clean it up, seal it up, re-set it to break-in settings and go. Take a close look at the o-rings on the needles, and fresh fuel lines, new glo-plug, and you should be all set. Or just break out 2-3 hundred and buy a new one. Me, I always go cheep first, then blow the flow. Or you could send it to one of the motor guys on here and let them do it.

Have you checked to make sure they are tight? Screws do find away to come loose.
