I think the new car is a rip-off. It is basically a T2008R except it has carbon where the normal "R" versions have the FRP and plastic (chassis, topdeck shocktowers). The new plastic diff sucks - cannot be adjusted from the outside... new springs come on xray I have 11 full (4 piece) sets and 2 half sets already in my box, I find it hard to believe there is not one amongst those which would work.

I'm disappointed to say the least but I guess I just stick to the 2007 for an other year or so... Of course a drastic price drop would change my mind... somewhere around $330 would be realistic for this new car. (not gonna happen I know). Xray you screwed this up! I bought the latest car since the FK04 every year but I will pass on this one .

no matter what you say, and all you complain about, if you have bought a new xray everytime one came out, and the new car works well, your going to have one too, so becareful what you say, normally words dont taste as good when you end up eating them lol

Default 08 Question

ok guys, i have afew questions about the '08 im hoping some of You xray diehards can help me with:

1, the 08 no longer includes the multi front diff, correct?

2,can the gear off the front spool be retrofitted to a 007 multidiff?

3, is anyone using a 008 at IIC?

4, are the bearing in the kits any good? Im from Australia, and i hear conflicting stories regarding the quality of the kit bearings.

5, Is the car still sensitive to diff tension?

6,In your opinion, what are the best & most necissary mods for the x ray cars in general.

Cheers guys,
from a yokomo die hard, (dying slowly)

Simon

I did not say the new car won't work or it doed not perform better than the 007. It already proved it does. It just does not worth 400 anymore. I have a perfectly set up 007 and the same guys beat me every weekend no matter what I drive
I used to enjoy buying the new xray every year. There is nothing more exciting than build a new car. I will miss that part...

I'm with you ctv01. The difference between the 08, 07, and 06 isn't worth the money. $400 can buy 4 or 5 lipo packs. I will stick with the T2 06 for some time.

unless you keep your old car, in reality your only talking about 150.00 if you have a 007 in good shape and sell it first

I've never got more than $200 for my one year old cars (after shipping and paypal fees). We have to wait and see what is compatible from my spare part inventory as well... I believe you look at something closer to $300 if you want to switch and the cost of the new springs...

Did I miss something. Will the current spring kits not work with the new car? What's up?

I'm sure old springs will work, US '008 kit will ship with the same light purple/white springs as '007 did... (see exploded view pdf)
Old springs are also printed on '008 setup sheet.

The '008 shocks are shorter than the previous shocks. While the old springs probably will work, I am betting that you might not be able to choose all available shock mounting positions w/o running into ride height issues...???

Default Xray

I've been an Xray die hard for years, for on-road and off-road. And I have to say that the '008 is the first car I have been dissapointed with. I'm not saying I'm giving up on Xray but I'll keep my '007 and wait and see what the
'009 brings to the table.
