So I went back to 55 timing start RPM 9000 End RPM 18000 and FDR of 7.04 and enabled Boost with a delay of 1200ms. Bingo! The speed down the straight was excellent and the snap on the infield was great plus temps were much better. ESC was 80c and motor was 74c after a 5 minute run.

I reduced the boost delay to 800ms and the speed was even better down the straight with no increase in temps. I felt I could probably gear down to 7.24 and benefit on the infield and get better pace down the straight with the turbo.

So happy with the kinetic now
Hey,
I am also running touring but with a 11.5T built-Ballistic.
I am geared at 7.4 at the moment.
I tried your boost settings but I am not getting any low end acceleration. like you mentioned.
What min drive, drive frequency setting are u using. Top end is good but my car feels sluggish at corner to corner acc.
Need help urgently.

Charlie,
The track i run is technical with a 150ft straights.
Can you advice on what type of setting I should try?
I tried the dvaid852456's setting above and I also tried the pre-set 10.5t 2s settings. Top speed is great but i am slow out of corners. It feels like from initial trigger pull up to max there are no timing boost added. Then at full trigger the max boost just kicks in.

Any anyone else wanna chime in, i'd appreciate ur 2 cents.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I'm running
min brake 0
Drag Brake 0
Min Drive 1
Current limit 3
brake Freq 2.25
Brake endpoint 60
Drive Freq 11

The settings I posted were used on quite a technical circuit that suffers from a dusty surface, hence the current limit settings. Acceleration was as good as it could be before I lost traction on corner exit.

My next race is at a much grippier track and so I may need to play with gearing and min dirve if the acceleration seems a bit soft but to be honest just turning off the current limit would probably do.

Due to the extra grip I am imagining a lower gear ratio will be needed, probably down to 7.24 or 7.48.

Have you tried lower gearing than 7.4? If top speed is good I'd gear down for more acceleration on the infield.

Is there a fix for adjusting the rpm range as mine is stuck. I tried the solution explained a page or 2 back but no luck.

Please help!

You need to push the reset button on while connected to a novalink to reset all the settings back to factory default. When you adjust the timing ramp settings it locks the rpm range.

Default YES!!!!

Nailed it! My first 19 lapper!

The setup was perfect and the Kinetic was MENTAL!

I shattered my PB by over 7 seconds with the following setup:

Timing 45
RPM 9000 - 18000
Boost 900ms
FDR 7.48

The key came from turning off the current limiter and gearing down. The car came alive. It had so much acceleration between corners you could see the front of the car lift and it was a rocket down the straight

After the first run I checked temperatures and was amazed to find both motor and ESC never got hotter than 63c!!!! Incredible. I really thought the new speed would have pushed the electronics to the limit but it seems the Kinetic just loved it!

NOVAK YOU ROCK!!!!!!!

Was this still with a 10.5 motor?

Does anyone have much expirience with the current limiter on the kinetic? Have you notice how low you are able to set it without feeling significant power loss? I have it currently set at 8. I plan on expiriment going lower during practice tomorrow.

Yep, a GM 10.5. Chuffed to bits with the kinetic now it is so easy to fine tune. How did I race before!

I use the current limiter on low grip tracks and low grip conditions. One track I race at has a very dusty surface and it makes putting the power down out of a corner very tricky. I have gone as high as 6 before and always set the disable RPM point at about 18000 for 10.5.

After this weekend though I think the RPM point could do with being much lower or more experimenting at least. By disabling it the performance gain was massive and temps came right down too. I do wonder if the ESC is actually getting hotter when the current limiter is activated as I saw about a 20c drop when I disabled it.

I am having a little problem understanding why the kinetic can't add a small amount of timing (like 5° to 10°) to a 3.5t motor above 55000rpm to 70000rpm ??? It seems to me if you want to go real fast in mod, why the 6.5t limit when using dynamic timing ???

Also my five year old gtb 3.5t is just as fast as those 6.5t with dynamic timing, but with less heat !!!! Why not come with a software/esc that allows some top end timing on a 2.5t/3.5t motor ???

A few top speed racers had the Novak 3.5t running at 6S , and the novak ballitic timing can be cranked up to 45° . Right now I am running 2S , my 3.5t at N timing, and I feel that if the kinetic esc software could raise the timing from N to 35°+(45000rpm-50000rpm), then it would be the fastest mod setup yet !!!!!

I just spoke to the novak folks, and just as I thought , I can program 5° to 15° of timing advance from 45000rpm to 50000rpm in my kinetic running a 3.5t.......

i've been racing the tekin rs pro systems for the last 3 years but maybe looking to moving back to novaks, looking for some honest opinions about the novak kinetic systems compared to the tekin rs pro systems.
