Associated RC12R5

Okay, I asked a friend of mine who also had an L4 and now a R5 and that was what he told me. He had already driven the R5 with an old body from his L4 so that's why I made the reply...

I leave the side damper attached, but I don't set tweak on this car. I recommend that you back the tweak springs off all the way until the spring holders touch the brace. I know it seems odd to do this, but I always run my car this way. I find that if the car feels tweaked it is usually because of something binding in the front end or a collapsed front spring.

Ya, that seems VERY odd. If your car is tweaked (pod and chassis, and or wheels) then you may be holding the tweak if you do it your way. Hmm. I guess I will just try it without the side dampener on. It seems to never return to the same spot with it attached, and that is with 20wt AE oil. I read here that he sets tweak then screws the side springs in 2 full turns so that it should return to center better.

Yo rezenclowd3 do you own a 1/8th buggy??? I saw a buggy on RCCA were the body had almost the same design as your car and it was the exact same color and everything.

I did. I ran it twice You will see that same pic in the upcoming Octobers RC Car Action magazine. My old Losi 8 and the just sold Xray 808 carried the same scheme. Now I am trying to adapt the scheme to my pan car shells. Design thanks to KCDZIM, however I painted them.

I ran the car for the first time in Vegas and all I can say is wow! I havent raced 1:12 in almost ten years so I didnt really know what to expect but the new car was so good it didnt really matter
I ended up running the kit setup except for the springs, I went to one step harder(red center, blue side springs). I ran Jaco double pinks and yellows on it.

Oooh, RobK those are BITCHIN!
Next week should be my first race with the RC12R5...as well as my first race driving a pan car. Oh boy I'm stoked...Going to be running on outdoor asphalt, low to med traction (actually as the day goes on, its med to low..odd how traction goes down at our track as the day progresses)
