Sorry EVOtech, I guess I was confused about what you were talking about since you "quoted" me talking about carpet setups and 3mm chassis for it.

Maybe I can just double up the top deck for carpet? I dunno Do the Evo III center braces fit on the Evo IV?

Well I raced my Evo IV the other day and I had a pretty hard hit with a barrier and I lost steering from the right wheel, I thought that I must've broken an arm or maybe even the upright, something like that anyway, but to my surprise, I actually broke the carbon joint between the aluminium steering arms, as well as bending one of the steering posts!!!! I couldn't believe it.

Has anyone else ever had that happen??

I know, big pain in the ass that is. At the moment, I am getting a friend of mine to manufacture that part out of sheet aluminium. He's got a bit of experience in that now as he has made a custom Mini-Z chassis solely out of aluminium so this'll just be a walk in the park. When I get some photos, I'll upload it for you to see.

OK, anyway, from what I've heard so far the EVO4 is stiff enough for carpet as-is.

The EVO3 centre braces (I presume you mean the square cross-shaped ones?) won't fit without drilling the decks.

It is certainly stiff enough as it is to cope with a fast outdoor track in mod, seemingly better than the 415 did in stock.

Our track is comprised solely out of wooden planks nailed into the ground, so there is no give. I was cranking at about 1/2 to 3/4 speed in Stock when it hit a barrier on a 45 degree angle. Not good news really!!!

My friend busted his steering plate as well but he was bashing on the street and it hit the curb.

The Evo IV may be stiff enough for rubber tire carpet. But not for foam tire carpet. It flexs way too much.

I'm sure I'd love my 415 too for carpet. But I'm just too lazy to build a diff for it.. lol
