I don't run a 417, but I do favor a high traction indoor track.

I like to run Jilles basic rubber setup, with roll centers "higher" meaning inner camber link position with less spacers...this reduces traction roll.

The only other change I make is front and rear camber about -1.

Approximately how much weight are people adding for the new 1380 weight rule? I know it depends on the electronics installed. I just want an average to determine how many lead weight packages I should order.

Well with my 416, I'm about 30 gms under, and my layout is similar to my 417, just haven't got it put together yet. That's with a rs pro, futaba rec, and 9550 servo.

So is it safe to say at this time there is no direct fit spur gears available for this car? I understand you can just drill to 3mm holes in other gears.

I ordered some spurs thru speedtech the other day that are supposed to be designed for the car. Just haven't gotten them yet to give you a definate answer. I believe they were by RW.

i am building my 417 right now and i put on the xenon vss spurs and they are a direct fit.

I believe the new style xenon gears fit as well.

Any spur with a 4hole mounting will fit, which the Xenon's have too.
Kimborough, RW etc need the extra hole.

Personally, I just brought a stash of 113t Tamiya spurs...

I know Tamiya's gears are supposed to be a different pitch, or whatever, but when I ran them with my 64P pinions, it was the quietest sedan I've ever had. What's the drawback to the stock gears?

A friend runs hpi pins in his, i'm not sure the exact part # but muchhobby.com may have it listed as option part, i know that's who put my buddy on to them.

there is no drawbacks! I'm running the factory 111t and I bought a bunch of spare 111's and a few more 113's. I agree also, very quiet, perfect mesh.
