Default Servo options

Building a new b6.1d 2wd buggy and was wondering what's a good servo?

I was looking at a Reedy RT1408, but it looks like they are discontinued ?

What do you guys recommend?

Protek or Reedy are great servos. pick one with a speed you want.

Check the mounts first. I have a B6D and a low profile servo isn't ideal for the servo mount, it crushes the cable on one side. I am using it for now as thats all I have but will be changing to a standard size servo asap. I assume the B6D and B6.1D mounts are the same, but could be wrong.

My low profile fits perfectly in my B6.1 and yes same mounts as B6D,B5M is different. I am running the LP10HV-SR from a new company Pro PerformanceRC and it is insanely awesome with my M17. They have better equipment than anything on the market in my opinion and I have tried almost everything

How is the Savox 1258 or the Reedy RT1508? I have a M12S and a 510R.

you are limiting yourself to SHR with either of these choices. A servo that runs SSR will get more from your radio and a more connected feel to the vehicle

SSR is limited to Sanwa only correct?

Probably need to confirm if the OP has a Sanwa system which can leverage SSR, though I am not convinced that SSR is necessary. I recently picked up an AGF servo which can be programmed to support SSR, however I run a Graupner X-8E system and have found that you can control many features besides SSR to get the servo to work to your liking, and I was honestly impressed with the smoothness of the servo right out of the box!

I just switched from the Savox1258 to AGF A80BHS and the difference is night and day with the AGF significantly smoother, only time will tell how long the AGF servo holds up, but I am confident that I made the right decision on giving them a try. I went from a budget servo to a less expensive budget servo, so not all budget servos are the same

Responding to the poster using an M12s and asking about the Reedy or Savox. Both of those are limitations for his radio imo. It doesn’t make sense to have a radio with a fast response mode and not use it and get the most out of it. I have found other servos than Sanwa’s own to be fastest on the clock

Thanks for the clarification, I see it now... you bring some good points to consider... so at what point is clock speed a factor of diminishing return?

I only ask this because the AGF servo I referenced is listed as:
Control System: PWM 1520us/333hz
I have not looked at this spec for any servo before and would like to understand more about what this means. All I can tell you is that the AGF servo feels way smoother than the Savox servo, only guess I have is because the AGF servo is brushless.

This is for a 1/10 2wd buggy. It doesn't need to be a torque monster like some have recommended. No one like Reedy servos?

I just want a good reliable servo that is fast for 1/10 buggy 2wd racing.

I've been running this shorty servo in my EuroTruck for a while, super smooth, fast and very reliable:

if you don't mind buying from China and want to save a few bucks, then I would consider this one too:
A62CLS 12kg.cm(167oz-in) @6.0V - 0.093sec/60°@6.0V
