I just put a Leopard 4060 1900kv in my hyper 9 with a 15t pinion. I wasn't expecting too much, but I was blown away by how much faster it is compared to my 2100kv motor with a 14t pinion. After about 10min the motor was just warm to the touch. It's also pretty light at 290g out of the box. For $68 I don't think it can be beat.

Hey DJ, where are my titanium turnbuckles you owe me?

Do you really want them, guaranted to break an upper arm during a race.

No, I have the longer(real titanium) ones in the front. You could send me the titanium steering turnbuckles though. I'll wait right here and hold my breath.

Please keep us updated on this motor. I was loving my tekin 1900 but it has destroyed 2 rotors now and im getting sick of it. The Leopard is 1700watts and the tekin is 2000 so let me know if you think its got enough grunt. I do like sensored but not many motors are in the 1900 kv range. What are some other options you guys are running?

They list features for the nitro and elec.

love this feature:

-NEW REAL SUSPENSION

Isn't the new hyperstars the 9E bump editions?

No, the "bump" edition is a product of OFNA. The front suspension is totally different on the hyperstar.

Pics of the box show a check box for electric.

putting a 2650 tekin T8 motor in my hyper 9 and will be running it on thunder power 3s lipos.

What is the ballpark pinion gear that I can start with letting me bump up 1-2 teeth for a bigger track, and lower 1-2 teeth for a tighter track

Thanks

use this:

http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/_top_speed.html

Assuming 11.1V, 2650Kv motor, 3.909 ratio, 16T pinion, 40T Spur, and 4.5in tires this would give you 40.3 mph estimate which is what was pretty common to shoot for as a starting point.

Thicker motors also limit you if I recall to certain pinion sizes, with 15T being the smallest I believe. With a long can motor like a 2200Kv, I woudl think you could do that motor on 11.1V and just up your gearing as need and it would work too.

So what are the big standout things on the Tim Bump edition of the Hyper 9E? is this worth it or would it be better to do one of those graphite chassis setups?
