Hey Bill did we come up with a name for the Duo 3's yet? My vote is still the "Deathstar" .......

Default 13.5 race report

Well, my 1st outing back with full throttle was a decent one. I ran a new duo3 13.5 in my 1/12th scale car @ Horsham. Qualified 2nd and finished second. Not too bad. Larry Fairtrace was the one guy whom I couldn't keep up with. I ran with an AE black diamond speedo with their new software. All day long the car felt as if it needed a bit more top end. The motor was running very cool......like 119 degrees cool. But when I tried gearing it up, that slowed the lap times and added no more rip and also no more motor temp. Hmmmm. So I geared back down and dealt with it. In retrospect, I think maybe the car probably wanted more timing than 0 degrees in the motor perhaps with less gear. Next time out I'll try advancing the motor's timing to see if I can find some more rip and also a little more temp in the motor. Any advice would be appreciated. Are you listening Mr. Bill? All in all, 2nd to Fairtrace was not too shabby for a rusty old pilot who's been out of the game for months. It does feel good to be back in the saddle.

Never can go wrong when applying The Force to the brushless motor.

You could go with "The Force" Duo3 by Full Throttle. Another nice one is "Game Over".

you could raise the timing to 8 deg, but set the boost to 40 to 45 i would try that first before setting the timing on the motor ,these motor s\
run cooler no matter where you gear them just finding the right set up in the speedo now raising the boost will make the motor run hotter just gear
1 to 2 teeth low 380 to 390 good roll out to start with

One thing for sure with these new wild speedos out today you can burn up any brand brushless motor. These speedos and batteries can out perform any motor. Its crazier than ever with electronics thats for sure.

the good news with black diamond speedos is that there are just 5 profiles to pick from. Simple. The bad news is that one cannot alter the timing or the boost in the speedo. For all classes except mod, everybody runs AE speedos on profile 5. So when using a black diamond, there's only mechanical timing in the motor and gearing to fiddle with. That's the benefit (and also the down side) with running an AE speedo. On Saturday I tried only changing the gearing. Wasn't able to match the rip of Fairtrace's car. So next time, I'll try throwing some timing at the motor to see what that does. One thing is sure........these 3rd edition Trinity Duo motors sure do run cool. Mind you, I'm not complaining. I wasn't very far off. Running a strong 2nd is nothing to sneeze at. Hopefully with a bit more timing in the motor, that will achieve the last few percentage points of performance.

Bill, I'm a little behind the times running a duo1. But the car was had wicked power with that duo1 that i have from you, I qualified last in the a as a bump up in 17.5 open TC and ended up sixth after some last lap battleing with Casey. All in all a good day for me though, keep up the good work and bring us more and more good horsepower!
