LoL Darth !!!! Ray could have gone even faster with a CF shaft, and a full sized battery pack, although balance would have been affected.... I did not see LCD drives, aluminum screws, 70grams of battery weight(not lead), so that's another 0.3sec per lap...lol.... Good running Ray !!!!!

Was not happy with the balance and handling with big pack . I did have losi axles . Didn't have time to build a CF shaft !

So both the tub tc4 and the dc4 le are superfast.....
Ray, I believe optimal balance can be achieved with a full size pack that's the same weight as your shorty pack(200grams)+ esc(50grams)... The Thunderpower Tp4300 65C weighs around 250grams, and should perform as well... No lead weights necessary.....
Did Bryan Wynn shave his dc4 le chassis down to 70mm to make it narrower?????

I don't know if you noticed but Ray K and Brian Wynn are pretty good at this toy car racing thing. If there was a mod to be made that would have worthwhile gains, they didn't miss it.

Under what circumstances would the balance be better on Rays car with a long, skinny pack? He mounted the ESC on that side for a reason, and the argument "but with a heavier pack, mounting it on the other side would be the same but better" doesn't hold water when you actually do it. I don't count 50g of weights on the motor side, so with the ESC on the standard side it would probably need a MUCH heavier pack to balance without weights as there is no offset battery position in this car.

Also, you can't cut down a DC4 LE chassis to 70mm, it has a big hole to accomodate the low motor mounting position and unless you deem the chassis on the outer part of that hole unimportant, the chassis can only be cut down a few mm per side and smoothed.

You should probably think about not second-guessing everybody and everything you come across.

I was running a 4300 60c shorty. Brian car ,appeared uncut.

I had just bought new 4300 shorties for offroad and 6500's full size packs for touring . The full size pack with standard radio gear layout put me at 1530 grams . 80 grams over weight ,and left to right balance off. Also drove like it . A 5000mah pack would probably work , but wasn't buying yet more batteries a couple weeks before the Classic.

Once I achieve a baseline setup , I tune with shock angle ,camber, droop and upper link length/height. That said two of these don't have a fine enough adjustment . The link length outside of the longest position are all to short for me ,makes the car to quick and aggressive . The shock angle adjustment from one to another, are like four position changes on a modern car. So to add more fine adjustment. My shorty pack and motor side ballast weight both can be moved forward and back over an inch to change weight transfer bias.

I just thought Ray had a variety of packs to choose from..Sorry... Thunderpower offers race packs for all situations from 2700mah(168grams) to 6000mah(300+ grams)... The tc4 cars require light packs to compete, unlike other cars... I always keep different sizes on the ready, just in case: 2700mah(168grams); 3300mah(205grams); 4300mah(250grams); 5300mah (309grams), etc...
Your shorty pack was the perfect size Ray...

Also Desert, I am all for positive criticism to make each tc4 out there go faster and faster.... Just sayin...
I know the dc4 le can't be cut that much on the motor side, but it can be significantly cut on the battery side. 70mm was a suggestion for a future dc4 le version2 chassis...lol... The tc4's best years are still ahead !!!!!!

I would run 8 AND or 12 spoke wheels if not dish wheel.

If you need more aero then use Rain-X and whip it on the Wheel and body it will seal it from dust and reflect all of it.

Thanks for posting the link ,first I've seen of it !! I'm the Baby blue NSX sitting fourth on the grid !!! Talked to Rick Hohwart, there should be a report on the Halloween Classic in the racing news. On the AE site . Mostly on Hebert's double mod wins in touring and 1/12 scale . Maybe a tidbit on the USGT race !!!
