I searched this thread and the 3.0 thread and I didn't find a list so forgive me if i missed it, what parts would be needed if you wanted to switch the 3.0 to the 4.0 chassis? I have a 3.0 with 3 track days on it, I like the stand up, but wouldn't mind the shock or future transmission options the 4.0 gives you?

This list is mainly for converting a 3.0 to a dirt laydown and moving the rear shocks to the front using 4.0 parts (cheaper than the TLR 3.0 dirt laydown and X-Factory rear shock tower brace).
If you're running carpet/astro, you'll need more front end parts and might be better served just getting the 4.0 kit.

Time to rebuild my sr diff. Need to know if ae thrust screw ( stronger) will work with sr nut. Heard it will NOT.

My 4.0 is currently at 1512 grams in stock form with a lightweight gensace 3500mah pack. I race exclusively on carpet and have mine setup almost exactly like the carpet setup in the manual. On the scale the weight is 39% front and 61% back. Would I benefit from lightening the 4.0 with slipper eliminator, titanium turnbuckles, aluminum shock standoffs? And then adding weight to the front of the car with the forward brass plate set?

Geometry wise, arent the 3.0 with losi laydown conversion and 4.0 supposed to be pretty much the same? I have both setup pretty much identical but my 4.0 handles SOOOO much better! I even have the infinity rear shock tower mod that moves the rear shocks forward but the handling difference is still very noticeable between the two.

I'm thinking perhaps it's handing better due to the use of the stiffezel to make things stiffer and making the suspension do the work instead of other parts flexing.

never been much of a TLR fan, but with the release of the 4.0 i was very impressed with the extent of geometry correction done (and included in the box) for high grip / low ride height applications..
this was enough to convince me to try one and build a no compromise carpet car.
its fitted with tlr comp aluminium gear diff, hrc pivot blocks front and rear, +3.5mm rear hubs, aluminium front camber block, aluminium steering, aluminium servo mount, universal rear shafts, jconcepts front wing, yatabe springs.
only waiting on swaybars and it will be complete.

I ran the 22 4.0 in the laydown configuration (gears up) over the weekend on an outdoor clay track. This track gets run on wet in the morning and then grooves up over the day. The track also requires sweeping and blowing down to remove the loose stuff off the top throughout the day.
It was fantastic... Way better in the laydown config than my 22 3.0 with the 4 gear ever was on this track. I was very surprised..

Where did you get narrow TLR front rims? Do the B5/B6 Narrow rims fit? Are the rear rims the same? Thinking of switching over but.... so many tires..

Frank,
Need part numbers to rebuild my sr diff for my 4.0 buggy. Need sr diff gear, (thrust screw, spring, and smaller nut). Is the cut idler gear available yet? Seems like packaging may be complicating matters.....told that the nut in 2958 is the larger variety and that the idler gears in 332064 do not work with the 4.0. Help
