they are metal, you can't miss them unless they are not in your kit

Only 155g, normal shorty is in the 210-220g range.
Not to prove you wrong but. Even smc race spec shorties are 151 grams...

As listed on the smc site: Race Spec 215g, Factory Spec 203g. The 1s pack is 151 grams, put that in your car and let me know how it is.

Don't worry, you're not proving me wrong.

They are not needed by everyone. Some axles were possibly made too short so that when the front axle was built up it would compress the inner race of the bearings and cause the bearings to fail, this could also be becasue the crush tube was slightly thinner than it should have been. I have zero shims on my axle and have had zero issues, i did however go with avid bearings from the start and have not used the stock ones. If needed you can try these:

No, look at the mah....it is only a 3200mah where as a standard shorty is in the 4700mah range. Smaller cells = lighter weight.

Excellent! Thanks for the info! I didn't realize the shims were already in the kit. Seems like there should have been a supplemental instruction sheet or something. Have not checked yet, but maybe my kit does not have them.

A couple more questions...

Page 5 step 2 (Front arms and uprights build) says to use 25215 (M3 locknut, black). I could find no black locknuts in the kit, but there were numerous blue aluminum ones so I used one of those. In fact, 25215 is not even listed in the hardware list. Hope I got it correct!

Also, I remember reading about some people having issues with a particular ball stud pulling out of the plastic, but I cannot remember where this was located on the car and cannot find the thread about it. Can someone refresh my memory?

Thanks!

The shims are not included in the kit, he was referring to the crush tubes being included. The kit does come with the blue nuts and not the black so you are fine with that step. The ball stud issue was in the rear hub carrier. Make sure to loctite the ball stud into the blue nut insert, or purchase longer ball studs and use a nut on the back. Also make sure to put loctite on the front axle screw....manual doesnt say to do this.
