If it's just the balls, one "trick" you might also try is using is putting some Tamiya Fluorine coating fluid on the bearing balls. They won't be as smooth as the Ceramic balls, but it will be as close as you can get without actually having Ceramic balls. Back to building my USGT car.
Yep. I've been using Kyosho's kingpin oil on my bearings. It's fluorine so it dries a bit and doesn't attract dirt and crud like oil.

Hi all,

Thank you for your replies. Btw i just realized that the mz217 motor mount is enclosed and does not have an opening for the polyswitch on the stock motor. Anyone cut up the mount?

I always remove the polyswitch/fuse. The other alternative is to relocate it closer to the chassis like how it is installed on the awd cars.

Kremzeek, you twisted the polyswitch to fit it in the mount? I’ll try that. I neither have solder nor the soldering skills to do what EMU suggested. I suppose I can always go get a pn racing 70t motor without the polyswitch, but I read that it has high drag brake and I’m a bit hesitant to try it since I’ve grown used to the stock motor after it has broken in. It has just the right amount of drag brake for me now.

Yeah, I've done it with the stock motor and the X-Speed. If you remove the glue, you can just bend the wire. The biggest issue I've had is with the bottom wire and capacitor rubbing on the axle. The last time I did this, I was able to bend the cap down and resolder the wire so they didn't touch.

This picture reminds me that my PN Racing 50T motor does not have a capacitor on it. Should I add one?

I very often run my brushed motors without caps. I only install a cap if there is a lot of radio interference to see it if helps.

I have found that 2.4 systems are much less susceptible to motor noise. One of the classes I completed in flying gliders used a brushed motor and the “hot” version was known to be very “noisy” and I never had an issue once I went to 2.4.

Took an an early lunch today and put together a box stock motor mount for one of me M96WC cars.

Still waiting on a couple boxes to finish up my LM car, it is all painted and ready for decals, wheels, and tires.

Cheers,
Jim

From what I understand, the big square thing is basically a fuse and some people say that it actually hurts performance. I've taken the little caps off a few motors and never had any problems with interference.

Heck yeah.....
So I had been watching a never run 996 GT3 Autoscale body on eBay that started at a very reasonably price of $30. There was a minute left and I bid $33 and low and behold I won it. While I would have rather had a White body or a race livery I do not mind the "GT3" graphics and these are getting to be very difficult to come by at reasonable costs so I feel pretty lucky with this one.

Then just a few minutes ago I was lucky enough to spot a Ferrari 458 White body for sale on Facebook. I have been looking for one of these for months and they just do not come up for sale at any price. I paid retail for it but stoked to have found one.

I am not sure you can call me a collector as I run every body I have but my garage is slowly becoming more complete with bodies I actually want but with that I think it is time to sell off bodies that do nothing for me as I am running out of room in my "body cabinet"

Cheers,
Jim

Sounds like I was too late on that 458. Been looking for one for a while.

So what does it mean if my rear end snaps around when I let off the gas to make a turn? It's definitely not a slide, the traction on my eva mats is high enough to prevent donuts. I'm wonder if it has to do with the higher drag brake of the 50T motor. I'd hate to buy a mini 96 track thinking this issue will go away when its not a traction issue.

no hard feelings, you lucked out on this one. I am going to speak with the seller to include the lexan window with it for you if you're going to build it, build it right.
