scx10 tire question

I just do rims. If you put holes in the tires they tend to catch and tare. It doesn't matter about dirt and water it will get in either way.

How does yours catch and tear? I've seen bead rips but never tearing at the vent holes.
Dirt isn't a problem since beadlocks allow you to remove the tire and wash the foams. It's the glued on ones where you can't clean them so the wheel vents help the dirt and water get out when the wheel spins. Rim vents can't do that all the dirt and water stays inside.

if u run near any water, dont bother venting rims it will just let the water in to rot out your foams,
with my swampers ont hte honcho they are just weghted and sealed, the g8 compound is soft and they bag plenty, with the flat irons that are a bit harder, u can put a rubber band around the tyre to squish out some air as ur putting them on the rim to help them bag out a bit more.

I second that on the TSL's.
They seem to work better when they are sealed up without holes, seeing as how they are soooooo soft and deform pretty well anyways.

all depends on what kind of crawling your doing.
since the op has a scx, hes doing scale stuff, so venting isnt the best idea.
the flat irons arent that bad, but you need to weight the wheels down. for just general crawling/trail playing, 5-7 ounces in the front wheels, and 3-4 in the rear.
mainly the venting is for rocks/comp only. and it doesnt matter wether its on the wheel or tire.
one plus of doing it on the wheel, is you can ''tune'' it. if you want it sealed, simply put a small set screw in the hole or holes.
