Default Best Rally conversion/kit?

I'm trying to build the "ultimate" electric rally car and wondered if anyone has opinions on which way I should go...

1. XXX-4 buggy conversion...this would be nice, but I'd need to at least modify body mounts. Anybody ever done this?

2. TC3 conversion...the kit costs about 60 bucks, but I'm not sure it would be better that the buggy.

3. Traxxas 4-TEC conversion...from the Untimate Traxxas site. This looks interesting, but again I'm not sure it would be better than the buggy.

4. Any other ideas?? (I know I could just buy an HPI RS4 Rally, but it looks fragile and the belts are not protected from dirt, etc. like the enclosed Losi system in the XXX-4).

Thanks for reading!

hmm, if potection from the elements is what you want , the XXX-S/4 conversion would be the best bet.

For the time and effort however, you may just want to look online and pick up a cheap Losi Rally weapon. Its based off of the XX4, sealed drivetrain, and runs pretty well. Easily get for under 100 bucks, EASILY.

The HPI rally comes with an innerbody that keeps dirt out of the drivetrain. I have one, and i love it.

what does the Tc3 conversion look like?

thanks

how old is the nitro rs4 rally kit?
I am very interested, but are there hop-ups for it to make it stronger and "competitive"?

The HPI super nitro rally is sort of old, I don't know exactly how old though. Since the nitro mt and the "SNR" share the same chassis and drivetrain, just about any hop-up that is made for the nitro mt will fit the SNR. There used to be a problem with the front dogbones popping out of the outdrives, but HPI fixed that by including rush outdrives. I think that the car is pretty strong stock, but there are probably some aluminum upgrades out there for it. You would definitely want to ditch the stock motor in favor of something a little more "competitive."

Don't convert the XXX-4, convert the XXX-S!

I have the TC3 conversion. It's awesome. Only thing that's bad is that the steering rack is unprotected. This means pebbles can get into it and jam your steering. To prevent this, convert it to the Nitro TC3 steering or make a lexan guard (get template off AE site).
