John,

Let's get a chance to talk about the SCAR class. We have been talking about doing the same thing in Toledo. We have been talking about using either a 3 or 5 port .21 engine. If done correct you could get a nice Nova Rossi, RB engine, OS or Max off-road engine for around $200 to $275. These engines should tune well and last a long time in On-Road use.

It would be nice if we could all follow similar rules.

TSRCAR implemented a similar idea this season (2007). We had a "1/8 Sportsman" class that capped the engine cost to $350 retail. This would include the O.S. motors, RB and Mega Serpent motors and a few others.
All drivers would race together but points would be seperated by "class".
While a few drivers had motors that qualified, we have only had three people run the class. The theory sounds strong, but for some reason it did not have the results we thought it would...ie bring in "new" drivers by providing a class with lower cost.

I like the idea, and will continue to run "low cost" motors because I do not wish to spend $500+ for motors, particularly for a driver of my limited skill level. It just isn't worth it for me.

RB S7C Circuit engines are dirt cheap.... Like $225. I believe they even have a combo with a header. I've run the Dynamite/Mach engines in off-road before and they just don't seem to have the longevity of the Nova or RB based stuff.

Novices will eat through the Mach's like no tomorrow with limited tuning experience. One good overheat during a race and pull the carb off it and throw the rest in the trash.

I'd go the extra $75 for the RB S7C.

Here's the Combo from our friend Robert:

Brooklyn site is down right now, but I bet they have the S7C pretty cheap as well.

Ted - we've already made an investment in these Motors. Maybe you could work out something with John Adams. Sorry, I should have thought to talk to you. I discussed it with Bill, Raye and Gary.

My experience to date gives TWO THUMBS UP for SCAR! Motor. I'll be assisting anyone with the Tuning of these impressive motors. The Motor fired up immediately, idle is great, throttle response is great, HUGE TORQUE, I broke it in, I ran a ton of practice, Two 15 Lap Qualifiers with maximum warmup time and a 86 Lap Main with great fuel economy. I was shocked that it gave me some 19 second laps. All on the same glow plug.

I really enjoyed running lots of practice. In the past, I have been reluctant to do much morning practice, because I didn't want to put alot of wear on my Motor. With this $149 Motor, I now am anxious to get more Track Time.

The Dynamite Motor adapted very well to the lighter 8th Scale On Road Car. The Motor was designed for Heavy Monster Truggies to run through Mud. I'm sure the motor will enjoy running on the asphalt. No Mud that can restrict cooling, No Free Wheeling over jumps, significantly less dust, significantly less weight and greatly improved cooling due to the Body and HIGHER SPEED of 8th Scale On Road. Imagine the difference in airflow and cooling between a Truck Body going 10 to 20 MPH and a Lola going 60 MPH.

We have more of these Motors on the way. CHEAP THRILLS

In 2007 we offered a new class (Bikes) without previous On Track Testing. On Paper they looked good. That was a huge mistake that we will not repeat. I investigated the possibility of the INFERNO GTs, I bought one, spent alot of time getting it ready, spent lots of dollars on optional tires, and then Track Tested it on the Hamilton Asphalt. The limited Radio Range and other factors convinced me that this would not make sense. That experiment cost me alot of money.

After talking to Frank Calandra at the Canadian Nationals, I decided to get one of these Dynamite Motors that he recommended and put it to the ON ROAD TEST. This WORKS. There is lots of interest in SCAR! and I see a bright and postive future for this 8th Scale Division. Pick up a used 8th Scale and bolt in a $149 SCAR! Motor and GO FAST On a Budget. In 2008, I'll be running my 2003 Delta XP4 with a SCAR! Dynamite = CHEAP THRILLS!

I sent out Dave's SCAR! Motor this morning and I'll have mine back at the next race. See eveyone ON TRACK for Morning Practice. We should have some of these Motors available at the next Ontario 1/8 On Road Racing Club Race in Hamilton.

Please Note: This is an Option to run in SCAR!. If you are not convinced, you can run any of the Great .21 Motors in the regular ROAR 8th Open Class.

Okay I have confirmed Agnes will be out on the afternoon of Oct 14.
She will be selling Raffle tickets for the rained out charity raffle.
She will be available for pictures as well at the end of racing.
I plan on taking pictures of the top 10 in the 3 classes. So make sure you make the next 3 races to insure your top ten standings!!!!
If any of the top ten want I will also supply a 8X10 glossy photo free of charge that you can keep for yourself or give to your sponsors. So make sure you wear all your sponsors gear on Oct 14!!!
Looks like most top ten spots are up for grabs so make sure you do not miss these important last 3 races!!!

Exclamation

Pick up a copy of the November RC Driver Magazine and turn to page 218 and see the 2007 Canadian On Road Nitro Nationals Report from the Ontario 1/8 On Road Racing Club's Asphalt Track in Hamilton. Thanks to Bill McLean for sending in the Race Report.

ON ROAD NITRO Racing - tomorrow - SATURDAY in Hamilton. Sounds like perfect weather.

I have not picked up the magazine yet but understand from others that I received all the credit which is not right. Credit should have gone to Corey Delong for the race report and Gary Climie for the pictures.
Very Sorry Guys!!

I was SHOCKED yesterday when I posted my first ever 16 Lap Qualifier at Hamilton. I was using the SCAR! $149 Dynamite Engine

Posted some 19.3 Second Laps.

Dave Presnail's SCAR! ran well as well.

Grant Galloway picked up a SCAR! Motor.

More details and setup information soon.
