Hey Rob.
Well to be honest I was having a bit of a laugh as one of my F-103's has been sitting on the shelf for a very long time
However, I don't really go thru T-bars that often, a little c.a on the countersink of the screw hole helps with durability, and I just use the std t-bar, not the soft.
I mount them up in the std format, 1 o-ring only, or occasionally with the pivot ball system.
The old 12L t-bars were very sensitive, and I did replace those monthly.
I think that is due to the more solid mounting system and tweak screws used in that application.
Carpet, asphalt, sticky, loose. I've run that car everywhere and generally tune with tires more than chassis.
My favorite setup on carpet was with the pivot ball bar, std front end, and Pre-mounts, tons of controllable steering, great roll thru the corners.
My t-bars may have somewhat less abuse than others, your mileage may vary

Oddly enough, we're pretty close on carpet setup. I just like the o ring type setup better, since it seems to work better in the traction roll type conditions that come up around here.

Might want to give the pivot ball suspension another try but this time add in a couple of tweak screws at the front pivot. This gives the pivot ball rear a tighter feel and allows you to adjust tweak too. There are already a couple of holes on either side of the pivot to use...they just need to be drilled a little larger to take a tweak screw.

I actually started out that way last year when I first got into TCS/F1. Basically I found that the oring type setup produced the same result with 99% less work Having done quite a bit of 1/12 racing, I figured the tweak screws and pivot setup would be the only way to go. I literally tested it back to back, and it was virtually identical in lap time.

True...but you'll get less t bar wear that way. For the track we used to run on the pivot ball suspension with the soft t bar and active front suspension was the way to go. If we had really nice high traction tracks I'm sure the setup would have been more like what everyone else was running with the standard front end.

We mounted the F60 kit tires onto an F109, which is similar in dimensions to the F103, and it just made the rear track width narrower. The front rims are almost dead nuts equal, but the rears are definitely narrower. The rear hax adaptors / hubs are the same on all the 103/104 type cars, including the 3racing F109, so they bolt right up. The front rims are different between the 103 and 104 cars, in the bearing flange area. Papo didn't have any issues mounting the front rubber rims to his F109, so it looks like a straightforward swap.

With the 104 rears mounted on my 103 (foams).
The track was much wider in the front (eyeometer says about 1/4 or more on each side). I assume the rubber tire dimentions are the same. The front track on a 104 is narrower but the front wheel offset is "about" the same
(103/104). I would think this would cause all sorts of handling issues.

Ride makes a good set of rubber tires but they are on intergalatic back order.
Look's like if we want to run f103 outside we are going to need a plan b.
I have a set of those $$$$ trg rears on the way,I will let you know if they are any good.

i was thinking about getting a set of the tamiya rubber rims and trying either the F201 tires i have sitting around or getting a set of the HPI optional tires and see that happens...
worse comes to worse, i'll get the F104 rims and tires and just use a few spacers to widen the rear
