don't run the batts full back.

the A chassis has several cut outs. where the Carpet chassis does not. also the carpet is 2.5mm and i think the A is 2.0

the asphalt version is 2mm and has alot of pockets in it.the battery slots also go through the chassis.

My Vegas setup is on page 50 if you wanna look at it Kevin.

It is a little different from what we talked about today, but it worked very well on high bite carpet. The car needed to be changed a little for CEFX.

I'm gonna be at CEFX tomorrow after work if you want to stop by. We'll go over things if you want.

The carpet car is great. The only quirk is that you must shorten the ball cups on the rear shock as short at you can to reduce pod droop. The over all center shock length on the BMI-12's is a lot shorter than on a 12L4.

Jason tested battery positions last weekend. I always run my batts as far back as they can go. He ended up being fastest with the batts all the way back.

One of the best 1/12th racers on earth told me once that battery adjustment on 1/12th cars is there just for looks and to make bench racers happy. He said always run the battery as far back as you can get it on the chassis.

I would agree with that statement. I personally have never had trouble with front steering traction. I can easily get more steering traction at will. It seems I could always use more rear traction, and having the batteries far back increases rear traction.

sorry, not running the batteries full rear was something that wayne had told me when the bmi12l4 first was released. And I have not tried this since then.

Wayne is "The Man" but I don't necessarily agree with that part of his setup. I think he could be even faster if he moved the batts back and looked for the feel he got from moving the batts forward elsewhere in the car.

Adrian,
Battery position is usually dictated by the motor. A mod. motor usually needs the batteries further back then a stock motor. The further back the batteries are with a stock motor the more rear bite and less responsive the stearing. I would run the car almost full throttle on any layout I ran on with a stock motor with the batteries very close to all the way forward. Maybe if you are on and off the throttle in stock it may be easier to drive with the batteries back some. In mod. I had to run the batteries back further to gain initial take off traction, then get the "pendelum" affect as the car went threw the turns to gain stearing. I would also have to run a thinner t-bar in mod. which does the same thing. The mod. motor carries so much more entry speed that the thinner t-bar let the weight transfer quicker and get you threw the turn faster.
