i just purchased this speedo (lrp sphere 2007 )and opened the box to find a "stick on heat sink"? do i need to use it.....it just looks soooooo much better with out it......really cheesy design if you ask me why not just build it in if it needs it?

I think its a really good design. They give you the option of not running it (like if you are using 7.5, 10.5 or 13.5 motors) or installing it for hotter motors. At my track its pretty much agreed upon that the LRP Sphere comp or TC are the ones to have. Period.
I have heard that in the Sphere TC version that the heatsink is mounted directly to the FETs and isn't meant to be removed, can anyone verify?

If you've got the space, then just use it. You don't wanna risk going thermal right? Anyway, I thought the blue alu heatsink looks good...

I am debating getting teh LRP Comp 2007 also. Mainly because it is a Royal pain switching brushless to brushed profiles in teh GTB! But I heard when a novak brushless motor is with the LRP Sphere, that it does not thermal out? anyone confirm?

The TC-Spec doesnt care for the motor temp.

Yes, the FET's are right under it. I had a local guy take a bad it on the side of his sedan and the heatsink came off
